Is Verizon (VZ) making a genius move OR about to cut off the hands that feed them?

Verizon Wireless (VZ stock ticker) idk
i'm having my second thoughts about recommending them going forward
maybe u got some input here i'll give u my experience
all they have now are $600+ phones that have no physical buttons
used shitty old phones from 5 years ago
or flip phones
those ~$200 phones that were pretty good sure not the best of the best but u know did what u wanted and were good enough
they got rid of all that
so u either get a dog shit 5 year old phone
a flip phone
or pay $30/month+ ($600+) for a phone that actually has enough space and ram to do modern shit
they are forcing the upgrade cycle by simply removing the mid grade models
so its either high end or dog shit
its made me consider switching providers
esp since most providers like tmobile and att offer to "pay" (credit your new account) to get you to switch
so we could terminate our contract and move and really not get harmed at all
and look in 1998 when my dad got his first cell phone
tbh vz was SO far superior
today however
every provider is good enough
att tmobile cricket etc all got 4g LTE and are working toward 5g
so it stands does their fios over 5g take off
do ppl just say fuck it and drop $800+ on a phone
or do they back off and either use their old devices
OR switch providers
its either a genius move or shooting themselves in the foot move
i'm going to the att and tmobile stores this week and seeing what they offer
if i find a phone i like at ~$200
like at least 4gb of ram prefferably 6 but 4 i can do
at least a 20 mega pixel camera
u know what we expect today
i might switch from verizon
they shot themselves in th efoot a decade ago with the iphone
apple if u remember approached them with a 5 year exclusive deal to carry the iphone it was apple's first choice
verizon balked and att picked it up
so ppl jumped ship to get it
verizon is doing their typical corporate sleazy shit again
forcing expensive ass phones we don't want down our throats
only now theres 200 other options

entry level that is good
the better and the best
i think verizon went to again shit and best
but most ppl want good/better
very few want or need the best and no one wants shit other than warren buffet maybe
feel like my confidence in vz being a good play has seriously dropped over this
and others may agree plus look u got cricket, national, etc etc etc now boost tmobile
i mean theres so many other providers
even x1 see that
comcast business class now their modems have 4g LTE back up
so if the cable line drops out it connects to the cell tower
and provided the cell tower is still up you got internet and tv still
isn't that what vz said fios over 5g was gonna basically be
idk i feel like they are potentially cutting their foot off by making long term loyal customers question staying
my whole family wants to upgrade devices but not at $800 each thats like 3200$$
fuck that
with the phone i had that asus
it was like $200 thatd have been $800 for the family lol
not 800 each
thoughts on that?
