Civil law is private in nature which focuses on regulating the relationship between individuals (individuals). Therefore, the provisions in civil law only have a direct impact on the parties involved.

The criminal law consists of norms that contain requirements and prohibitions that (by lawmakers) have been linked to a sanction in the form of punishment, namely a specific suffering. Thus it can also be said, that the criminal law is a system of norms that determine which actions (things to do something or not do something where there is a necessity to do something) and in the circumstances how the punishment can dropped, and what penalties can be imposed for these actions.

Criminal law is part of the entire law that applies in a country that carries out the basics and regulates the provisions regarding actions that should not be carried out, which is prohibited accompanied by a criminal threat to the person who commits them. When and in what way to those who have violated the prohibition can be subject to criminal sanctions and by the way how the imposition of the criminal can be carried out.

So basically, criminal law aims to protect the public interest, for example those regulated in the Criminal Code (KUHP), which has direct implications for the public at large (public), where if a crime is committed, it has a negative impact on security, peace, prosperity and public order in the community.
