Not so unfamiliar when you get old.
When we are young, some thought do not cross our minds. You are too busy living that you don't worry about the future. I had a wonderful life when I was young, working, raising kids, and having fun with friends. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, but unfortunately this all changes in time. We don't realize how our lives will change when we are old? Well let me tell you. Firstly it is harder to get your body moving, especially in the morning. I wish that there was some kind of oil to put in our joints, would that not be wonderful?
Secondly, you start forgetting things.
My husband came up with a perfect solution to these problems. We make notes everywhere, so that we don't forget. Luckily my husband found notes on his phone, so we now make notes there. The problem is when he loses his phone, but then we just phone his "phone" to find it. This is just one of the things that happen when you get older.
Repeating a story is another, sometimes I forget that I have told somebody something, and repeat myself. I so wish they would just tell me when I do this. My hubby does exactly the same,and I just listen as I don’t want to look nasty telling him. Maybe he feels different, but usually he just says no,I have not,and carries on saying that I never listen to him.
Just remember the same will happen to all of you, if you are privileged enough to reach this age.
Good luck bigbear with getting old. As you say we all will get to that someday. I am only in my fifties and I forgot things. Like we say in Afrikaans: getting older is not for sissies!
Does the story get better each time you tell it? If so, it proves you get better with practice, and that is what you were doing.
If they don't tell you that they have heard it already, maybe they have ' selective hearing' and weren't listening last time and need to hear it again to penetrate. Lol
