Friendship for seventy years

  Today was such a nice day, as we had lunch with friends that we have known for a very long time.

 My husband and his friend grew up a house apart. They went to school together and he was best man at our wedding. They use to play together and the friend’s parents were both teachers. My husband still says that he became a teacher because of them. 

We see one another about twice a year when they come down to the coast, especially in the winter time.   These lunches always turn to things like: do you remember this or that happening?

This means that the lunch lasts for hours.   They are both over 70 years old, but believe me when we get together we go back to our youth.

 The other subject is always our grandchildren. All the funny things they do and say. Funnily enough we all have these grandkids that are very talkative and the very witty. We as grandparents see the funny side but the parents try to keep them in check. As I said in a previous post that is what makes grand parenting fun.  We enjoy all the naughty little things that their parents don’t.   I wonder how many people can say that they have had friends for such a long time. So please if you have good friend, please enjoy them as much as we do ours.
