Frozen Taters Dead For Season
We had a decent frost the other morning that killed off the remaining warm weather plants.. peppers and green peas and potatoes..
Really, the deer had decided to much on my potato plants a couple times over the fall, which could have prevented significant tuber growth.. because even for such a small plant, there were tubers already forming!
If only! I’ve read potato plants can be left in the dirt over winter and into spring will grow again.. debating whether I want to do that or not. As of now there may not be any decent tuners worth digging.
Pretty cool concept though, next year I will not waste as much time getting a second batch in the dirt.
A wonderful colleague @funnyfarm77 has gifted me with some home grown horseradish, that I will be adding to the array of plants grown on the homestead! Much appreciated!
It was a sad sight to come down to my potato plants all wilted and dead. Peppers plants went from completely viable to dead foliage in one night.
It is always sad when the growing season comes to an end. Fall clean up time and then you have to wait till it gets warm enough to get the greenhouse fired up for the season. For your first year I would say you have done a wonderful job.
