DBJP # 60 - Health is Wealth

It is a big relief waking up this morning to a happily breathing young boy. Still a hint of a dog bark in his breath but his condition compared to yesterday is a worlds different.

We are ever so grateful for a healthy, happy boy.

The emotional roller coaster that was yesterday has ended safely it would appear.

That feeling of being powerless to help your child.. is one I wish to never experience again. But I can now partially empathize with those parents who suffer far worse and potentially loss.

The power of love.

The worst experience of yesterday, waiting in the emergency room, James began to have a coughing fit which physically hurts the throat of the victim of the Croup infection, thus leading James to cry more, which hurts even more, and can inflame the throat even more.. a positive reinforcement cycle.

It was just an awful situation and it seemed we were just sitting there with a struggling, near suffocating infant as all these people around us just watched. Insane. As their children just giggle with whatever common cold brought them in to clog up the “emergency” room.

With the hour and half we spent I had plenty of time to observe everyone else and not one other child seemed to have any issue. Why were they even in there? Sheesh

I could state the real reason but in today’s world you get labeled hollow terms so I’ll simply leave it at the fact that tax payers, and those with insurance get screwed as always in the end.

But I will admit, there did seem a good fraction of priority among the hospital staff for our boy.. and I am thankful for that.

He got the treatment he needed to clear his throat and allow him to breathe again.

And we got the hell out of there the moment we could.

And now it’s back to business as usual here at the home. We’re all so happy to be healthy.

I love my boy.

I pray to Heavenly Father.
