A Song Breakdown

This is something I have been thinking about doing for awhile. I really love the meanings behind songs. It is obvious that many people take songs and put their own importance on the message behind the words. I thought I would share some of my favorite songs and what their words mean to me. Many will be from the band Crown The Empire as I absolutely love their music.

The lies we hold onto are the ideas that how we live is okay. The corruption happening all around us, the cruelty to both humans and animals, the messed up laws we have that benefit corporations over consumers, or vise versa.

We shackles these lies behind the idea that everything is good. We just live our lives, going from day to day, doing absolutely nothing about the issues around us.

We're scared of the war, so we've forgotten who we are.
We've traded in hope for safety, we're raised in the smoke,
Insisting that we're all too tired to light the fire,
And shake the earth.

We are scared of actually trying to fight. To speak up and change the world around us, whether it be a politician, a corporation, or a sex offender.

In my opinion, people do not understand the importance of what they can actually do if they band together and demand change. But what happens when we say things can change, “Oh we are just stuck with the two party system. Nothing will ever change, all politicians are horrible.”

People feel safe, they don’t want to do what is necessary to change the world in a beneficial way.

But if all we are is just machines, then let's become a miracle

This to me is the idea that everybody just goes through life, doing what they are told. Get a job, work for someone else, make money, have a family, die.

We need to come together, in ways like Steem allows, to speak about what matters in the world. Demand that we will no longer just go with the flow and follow the roadmap that is given to us.

This is during a breakdown in the song and the yeah is actually screamed in a certain way. To me, it almost sounds like a cry of annoyance. Perhaps at the idea that it is such a simple idea. To break free from doing what everybody else is doing. But nobody sees it.

This means a lot of things to me. Recently it has meant the people who are Trump supporters admitting that their guy isn’t amazing and that he has A LOT of issues.

But it also means to me, anybody making the hard decisions when it comes to a choice. Do you do what is easy for you? Or do you do what is better for friends, a stranger, or humanity.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who dares to dream!
I scream at the top of my lungs, I hope that I'm proven wrong!

This is something I feel. There are many people around me that I feel are lost. They refuse to listen to anything that goes against what they feel should be reality. They refuse to leave the road that they are on. The path that they have taken.

Whether it be a life of taking care of their children and working a job, not following anything or caring for anything except their family. Or a Liberal activist with their head up their ass that can’t stop crying about stuff that doesn’t matter.

I feel that the mass of people don’t give a shit about breaking free from… Slavery….. Of their job, their society, or even a slave of their own thoughts and opinions.

These lines are just copying each other. To me, it is basically saying that we need to stand up for change. A better life for humans, a better society and a better future. We can no longer just go through life allowing, “The Elite,” (really hate using that word) to control and push us in certain ways.

We need to find a way to get past this post-truth bullshit into a world where we can trust facts and no longer just throw around words like, that is fake news, simply because we don’t agree with something.

The Songs Setting

The song is actually set in a post-post-apocalyptic world where there is a ruler taking people over and wanting to control them stating that the society these people came from crumbled due to the individuality of people.

While this song's setting is in such a Steampunk like world, it just screams at me that it is part of our everyday toil in the world. Regardless of what country you are from, I feel a message like this can speak to you.
