How I Spent my Weekend and I Made White Rice and Rice Stew (Ata Rice)

Dear diary, it is a Saturday morning over here and it is a good time for us all to relax and enjoy ourselves, it is a day that a lot of people have off work and school, so there is a general belief that this day should be spent with family members especially for those who only travel home from work on weekend basis.

Today, I was at home alone since I could not travel home to stay with my family as I still had an examination to write, I woke up hungry today but I still had a lot of things to do, so cooking was not the first thing on my agenda.

I washed my dirty clothes one after the other, washed the dirty dishes I had and I carefully arranged them in my plate rack, swept and mobbed my room in order to get rid of any form of dirt whatsoever.

It was after all these rigorous house chores that I began to think of what I could prepare as my stomach made loud noises. I felt like eating something that was really peppery, so I decided to boil rice and make a special stew called rice stew, the Yoruba's call it "ata rice".
In order to make my rice stew, I needed to get fresh tomatoes, fresh pepper and tomato paste, onions, Maggi, salt, groundnut oil, and fish. So, I left my rice to boil and told someone to help me watch over it, while I ran down to get the things I needed to prepare my rice stew.

When the boiling process of the rice was over, I placed my pot on the gas and I allowed it to get dried properly, I added a little quantity of groundnut oil when it was a little bit hot, I put in my sliced onion and I allowed it to fry to an extent after that, I added into it my already blended tomatoes and pepper mixed with the tomato paste,(I added the tomato paste to the stew less peppery).
I thereafter added my salt, maggi and fish and I allowed to get dried to my desired taste. You cannot just imagine how amazing this meal of mine was, I wish I could get to eat more often.
