Keep your Spiritual Freedom
"Be firm, therefore, in the freedom with which Christ has freed you and does not return to the yoke of servitude" (Galatians 5.1).
The apostle Paul made this warning to the Christians of Galatia. If we were liberated by Christ, if he freed us from the hands of Satan, if he freed us from so many evils, the Word of God alerts us to not enslave us again. We need to maintain our spiritual freedom.
Sometimes we have the sadness of knowing that some people abandoned the faith, returning to a life of sin. They became slaves of the devil again. This may seem incredible, but Jesus himself said that the demons that dominated someone can come back bringing others with them (Luke 11.24-26). The last state of these people becomes worse than the first.
In the history of the people of Israel, we noticed periods of captivity that took turns with divine acts of liberation. Notice what Psalm 126 says, verses 1 and 4:
"When the Lord brought those who returned to Zion from captivity, we were like those who dream ... He returns us from captivity, Lord ..." Psalms 126.1 and 4
The town had already been liberated, but fell back into the hands of the enemy.
Let's make a biblical retrospective of the history of Israel: The people were held captive in Egypt for 430 years. God released him. Upon arrival in Canaan, neighboring countries took turns to exploit and shoot down the Israelites. The book of Judges shows us a succession of oppressions and liberations. Later, Assyria took a part of the Israelites for captivity. Later, Babylon enslaved the remaining tribes. After 70 years of Babylonian captivity, God liberated his people again.
We see that Israel lived between captivity and liberation. But this was not the Lord's will for them, nor for us. God does not want those who are freed by him today to return tomorrow saying: "Let's save again!" Why these defeats happened? Due to the sin of the Israelites, mainly because of idolatry (Psalm 106.34-45).
How can we maintain our spiritual freedom and not fall into the hands of the enemy?
In the first place, there is a commitment to God. Anyone can be released or receive a blessing. However, if that person does not assume a commitment to be a Christian, the demons will dominate again. That is why many people fall demonized every time they attend a service.
Second, vigilance is needed. To enslave us, the devil offers us something. Let's see some examples: After achieving liberation for his people, Gideon was defeated by the temptation of material wealth (Judges 8.24-27). Samson, on the other hand, was defeated by prostitution with Delilah who, after discovering his secret, cut off his hair (Judges 16.1,19).
We can see that Satan uses the strategy according to the weakness of each person. We need to be vigilant and reject the proposals that come from all sides looking for our fall. After Samson was defeated, he became a mockery in the temple of the Philistines. The desire of the enemy is to see us falling and being a mockery. The desire of God, however, is that we remain free, victorious and thus we can help in the liberation of other people.
Yes sister Bertha, we were made free and we can not go back. God wants to see his people free and happy. Thanks for sharing
