Choices! What will it be? #63
I wanna make the content as a response to a contest created by @patjewell.
Among the choices, homemade is my bet. I love cooking. As a health-conscious person, I like my food to be more veggies - leafy vegetables. I was raised in a mountainous area where we were surrounded by vegetables and fruits. When I started working as an employee, I learned to eat in fast-food restaurants. The taste of their food is different. The more I ate in restaurants, I learned that the cooked-over-kindling fire tasted different than cooked over a gas stove.
For many reasons, homemade food and items hold a special place. It tailors to my personal preferences and dietary needs, it is healthier and more satisfying. Let me share with you why I choose homemade.
Chicken Soup with Cabbage
Thereby, I preferred homemade food. You know what, vegetables are healthy. As we commonly say “Health is wealth”, so be health-conscious. In this picture, I cooked chicken soup with cabbage. Chicken is rich in protein. It helps our bones stronger. I put cabbage to make this soup nutritious. I am addicted to leafy vegetables. Every time I cook food, there is soup and vegetables to balance the diet. Eating in restaurants is good but in moderation.
Bibingka | Puto
Aside from nutritious food, we also love home baking. Since I was a kid, my mother always cook “bibingka” or “puto” which she inherited from my grandmother. That was our business. During secondary grade, she cooked “bibingka” mold with a regular plate. As you can see in the picture, the “bibingka” is bigger than my hand. The last time my mother cooked this kind of big “bibingka” was last February. I was not able to go home during our barangay fiesta, so she cooked a bibingka as big as a plate to be sent to us here in the city. That was very special for me. That's why, homemade is the best for me especially made by my mama.
Tapioca with Gulaman
This is Tapioca with Gulaman. This was the first time we created this kind of desert. This costs 60 Philippine pesos per 250ml. To allow all of us to eat this desert, we decided to make our own. We spent no more than 500 pesos. It was trial and error. It's okay to make errors as long as you learn from it. If you want to learn how to make tapioca with gulaman, you can watch the step-by-step video on YT.
Thank You Letter
In this picture, this is a letter given by the kids in charity. Yes, I voluntarily joined the charity in our company. We went to Talisay Girlstown for a charity. I was one of the speakers, giving them background on what’s happening outside the school. Imagine studying in a school where no gadgets, no connections outside the school, and no television. We never know that they are preparing something special for us. We were about to leave and we thought they would only say “thank you” but there were letters given to us. They crafted it with messages inside. The incredible thing is, they created it in five minutes right before we left. The letters contain what we discussed with them, which was unbelievable. These customized letters amazed me😍.
Decors Contest
This last picture, was last month when my manager lent my hand with the decoration. Due to a limited budget, we need to make homemade decorations. This took us 3 days to complete the decors. To let you know, this was a decoration contest, with more than 15 contestants including all company sites in the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and India. Despite a limited budget and limited time provided, we were able to make it to the top 5. We are very grateful.
Hence, homemade is very time-consuming, yet, very satisfying and budget-friendly. Why spend a lot of money if you can cook, make your own, and spend less? Let me know if you agree.
Thank you for showing interest and reading my blog. There is a lot to say but that's all for now.
I wanna invite @suryati1 and @christyshona to join the contest.
Terimakasih atas surat undangannya, ternyata anda juga suka makanan rumah dari pada makanan cepat saji, makanan rumahan sudah terjamin keselamatannya apa lagi kita tidak menggunakan penyedap yang berlebihan bukan?
