Halle aux Grains

This is a concert hall in Toulouse that I have played at several times. Each time I am here, I am always struck by how reserved the actual hall is. If it weren't for the posters on the building, you could easily mistake it for a museum or something similar.

However, once you pass the front door, it is definitely a concert hall that plays host to a variety of music styles.

The stage (which has several sections that can be raised or dropped) sits in the centre of the audience ring. It is probably a good set up for boosted music, but for acoustic music you do miss the amplifying effect of the back and side walls. This, as a performer you feel quite alone and it is a ball that favours the bass over the treble (on stage, not sure what it sounds like in the audience!).
