A real story: traveling during COVID-19, @belenguerra

Hello everybody!! This is more of my story as a beginner wanderlust and I want to offer another point of view of this new kind of life that I've been sharing with you.

I'm traveling during a pandemic that has turned the world upside down since 2019. Honestly, I was so scared to start this kind of life before COVID-19, because It was already a challenge for me, that I can't believe that I've had the courage to start this journey even in a more challenging context, but I've had, and that's amazing, I feel very happy for that and very proud of myself.

So... maybe you are wondering... is it possible to travel right now?

The answer is: YES, IT IS!

There are plenty of people making amazing trips during COVID and despite the fact that there are more restrictions and you have to fill forms wherever you go, most of the countries at least in Europe have opened the door to tourism and people seems to be extremely happy for being able to activate this economical activity again.

Who's traveling?

People from 18 to 50 years old are traveling, mostly are solo travelers but you can also find a couple of friends visiting some city. And if you go to a small town, you can find partners or families trying to spend a calm time together far from the urban area.

What kind of trip??

During European summer there are people enjoying the beach for vacation, but I'm discovering a new way for traveling which allows you to work in a place exchanging work for accommodation and food, and there are a lot of people also living this experience.

How old are they?

As I mentioned, there are a lot of people, from 18 to 50, but there is a difference between Europeans and Latin Americans.

For example, Latinamerican's girls are around 30 years old, and Europeans, 20 years old. I believe that that's because Latinamerican culture, which demands the presence of the daughter in the house or near the family. It's a tradition that you have to stay close to your relatives, while in Europe boys and girls become independent and begin their life far from the family from a very young age.

I use to take my own solo pictures while traveling, but a frien took this one with my mobile phone. She's a friend from this volunteering experience that I'm currenty doing.

What are they looking for??

Most travelers value their life a lot and are very conscious that giving your life to a company is a way of loose it. So they are looking for experiences, they speak a language that few people know and is the language of the soul.

They want to feed their being with new landscapes, new people, new adventures, and most of them are trying to find themselves along the path.

These people know that traditional life is that one that you just follow, with rules, with schedules, with responsibilities that everybody has. And it's not that a traveler doesn't have a calendar and tasks, believe me, we have. But we belong to another group, we belong to those who are creating and designing their own life, beyond fear.

I couldn't be happier... I mean, I admit that sometimes I feel kind of lost, because I am creating my own path and I'm not following the one already done and walked for thousands of people, but it amazes me.

It amazes me the places, the people, the road and my own person.

So in conclusion... there are plenty of wanderlust traveling during COVID-19, it's possible, it's crazy, but it worth it.

It doesn't matter what things you have to go through to achieve something... what matters is how much you want to do that. If you feel you really want it, then you'll be able to reach it. Don't ever doubt about that and trust yourself ALWAYS.
