Times are changing but everything stays the same

It is actually happening, and I wish I could be bullish like most others, but I'm actually very nervous. I've been a believer in the Steem project for the best part of the last two years, but in one fell swoop, everything changed. There's no going back now, and the dream of being freed from the shackles of Steemit's death grip on the blockchain has been realised.

Moving to the Hive

As much as I indulge in conversations about governance, I'm predominantly a blogger, and my priority is to create content and grow my audience. Because a large population of the Steem blockchain have indicated they will be moving their content to Hive blockchain and the fact that my favourite front ends(@steempeak and @esteem) are also moving, it is a pretty easy decision for me to make.

What about Steem?

I really can't say, but I know for sure that I will not be using Steemit for any purpose. This could effectively be my last post on Steem blockchain, and it is with a heavy heart because I hoped things would turn out differently.

Learning from the past

At the end of the day, those ninja-mined stakes turned out to be the bone of contention. Steemit didn't keep their word and then went and sold a potential to make it or break it device to an individual(@justinsunsteemit) who wasn't aware of the history or baggage it came with.

Hive blockchain has come at a time when Steem is clearly on the ropes due to the influence of a super-rich guy that clearly has no intention to reason with the community. He doesn't understand the values of Steem community, and is finding out the hard way that simply throwing money around can only take you so far.

Moving on

I'm not going as far as saying that Steem will be a ghost town, but I think it will be reasonably quiet. I'll have nothing against anyone who decides to stay back and continue posting content here, but I'll generally stay away from Steemit. Perhaps, I will make exceptions for my friends and any exciting author that may stay back, though I doubt most will. Particularly when you consider how things are going to be when all the cool dapps and devs leave.

So without sounding overly dramatic(more than I already am), Bye-bye suckers, and see you on the flip side.
