To me science fiction tv shows are pure escapist entertainment. They can take you to far off worlds and make you dream about the distant future. Putting characters in farfetched scenarios usually leads to entertaining and fun television. Below is my list of favorite Science Fiction television shows. Even if you have never been into sci fi I believe that you can find something you will dig on this list.

Most of these are on my list too. I also enjoyed Lexx, Babylon 5, and Star Trek :TNG.
Farscape might be my all time favorite though.
I sing the Rygel going in reverse song sometimes. It gets stuck in my head still.
I have been wanting to watch Babylon 5 for a long time now. Farscape is my favorite, each episode has the production value of a feature film.
Another vote for Babylon 5! I never saw it when it aired, but in 2006 or 07 (way before Netflix or streaming) we would binge watch the DVD's. I'll also throw in The Twilight Zone. I always looked forward to the July 4th when SciFi would do those 24 hour marathons.
I used to enjoy Star Trek. Enjoyed Deep Space 9 the most.
I hear thats the best of the Star Trek shows. I want to watch the new Star Trek show when its out.
From your list, I'd probably go with Firefly and Dark Matter. Which is kind of funny, because I get a bit of a Firefly vibe from DM with their ragtag group of shipmates.
Have you seen The Expanse? If it keeps being as good as it has been, it may be the GOAT...
Does The X-Files count as sci-fi?
Thanks for the comment. I definitely get a Firefly vibe on Mark Matter. Which is strange because its the same production company that did Stargate. I just finished the first season of The Expanse. It was between that and Travelers the new Netflix sci fi show.
X-Files is kinda in a strange place - but now that I think about it, its Sci fi. I think about it more as like a paranormal show.
Also, I didnt include any fantasy/ super hero shows.
A bunch of these are on my list, too! Firefly, which never should have been canceled, is definitely towards the top. Doctor Who is up there, too! I watched a ton of SG1, but didn't really care for the others. Thanks for posting!
I have seen the one and only season of Firefly over 20 times haha... The movie was good too. But, wish there was more seasons. SG1 is amazing...SGU went in a totally different more dramatic direction but I liked it. Thanks for commenting!
Do you know the how and why of Firefly being cancelled? I have heard many stories, but all come from unreliable sources on the internet. Just curious if you had an idea. The movie was what should have been a multitude of seasons crunched into an hour and a half. *It was still really good though! And considering your list, I am surprised that there is no form of Star Trek on it. Personally, I liked The Next Generation and Voyager. In your future posts, you might think about adding a short description of the shows you post pics of, or a couple reasons why you liked that show specifically. No problem! Sliders pretty low budget but absolutely brilliant. Its like Gilligans Island -- but instead of an island the group is lost in an ever rotating sphere of parallel worlds. Some have small changes and others not so much.
