EQUAL DIGNITY

Hello friends,👋 it's my pleasure to share my view in this contest topic organized by @memamun After God created man he saw that man will need a help mate so God created a woman. This means that since inception a man needed a woman and vice versa.

Is the contribution of men and women equal in the society, or is the contribution of men more than women?

In todays society, both men and women contribute equally in the society unlike in the olden days when women had no important role to play other than to give birth to children and be a housewive. In the ancient days, women were not recognize especially when it comes to public matter. Good opportunities were not given to women because men see women as second class citizens or nobody. Going to school for a girl child was waste of resources so like my maternal family only my uncles went to school and all the female children stayed at home to help their mother.

Nowadays it's not only men that contribute to the society but women equally do same. I have seen a family where the woman is the breadwinner of the house. I have also seen a family where responsibilities are shared between the husband and wife equally. Women now become gradutes and even professors in their respective fields. Both men and women can become pilots, engineers, doctors, architects and so on.

Who do the people of your country prefer women or men and why?? Or do they give equal importance to women and men?

Though it was an ancient practice to prefer a male child over female but things have changed. 70% of my male friends usually say they prefer a female child because they believed that men are problematic in nature. Regardless, we still have men that are hell-bent on having a male child especially men in the royal family. In some royal family you must have a male child in order for you retain the kingship while in some, even if there is no male child the female marries a man outside which becomes the king.

Giving importance to male or female has to do with where the person comes from. For example in Igbo land in Nigeria, much importance is placed on a male child than a female. They believe that a man is only a man when his wife gives birth to a male child, if not the wife is tagged a barren woman even when she has birthed a female child.

A man's life is hard without a woman, and a woman's life is hard without a man, what do you think?
For a man and woman, I won't say that life is hard without each other.

The bible records that God created a woman to be a helper hence men and women are supposed to live together and help each other succeed.

Can a woman give birth without a man?
Can a man procreate without a woman?
You know that the answer is "no". God created a man and a woman in such a way that they need each other to grow.

When we are about to get married, our pastor or preacher always preaches in church that a woman is a help mate to a man hence they are to contribute equally to the success of each other. As a couple if your wife is not supporting you, you may not excel and as a wife if your husband is not supporting you, you will also not succeed therefore a man needs a woman to make things easy and a woman needs a man to make things easy for each other.

Every man should respect women, and every woman should respect men, do you agree, why?

For me respect is reciprocal. If you respect me, I will respect you so for you to earn my respect you need to respect me and respect yourself. I'm a woman and I deserve to be respected and I also like to respect responsible men around me.🤗

Another set of people we really need to respect are the elders in the society. Growing up, I was taught to always respect my elders. Anybody that is older than me deserves to be respected.
