Hello Steemit Community! My name is Brian Colón Mejias and I live in Hartford, CT. I have been into computers and video games since I was six years old. I'm always looking into new ways to sharpen my tech skills on software and I love how life is heading into a digital frontier, If you have any Linux tricks I would love to hear about them.
I got the opportunity to learn about cryptocurrency by google searching "Internet Money" i watch videos and read more online about it and when I felt like I was ready I bought my first Zeus Miner X3 I believe it was a 32 MH/s for Scrypt Mining and I remember monitoring that machine like it was my baby. I remember how scared I was at first because I would see numbers adding up everyday until one day I bought a Starbucks gift card using Bitcoin and when I used the gift card... it worked! After that my life was never the same.

I would like to know how does the power up and power down in Steemit works?

Ok, well steem is a cryptocurrency, just like bitcoin, and steempower is what you get when you lock up your steem into the steemit platform. So they are literally the same thing, but steem can be traded and/or sold when ever you like, but steem power takes 3 months to be powered down back into steem.
The sbd token, or steem backed dollar, is token that will buy you a dollars worth of steem on the internal and external exchange, this token is essentially a hedge against volatility in the market, so if you exchange some of your steem for sbd and the the price of steem goes down, you would still have the same value in dollars.
Also the more steem that you power up the more influence you have when you vote up other peoples posts. This means that you can award people with more money when you up vote there posts and you can then earn more in curation rewards.
