ART Process - I AM GROOT

How are you doing!

After a few request I decided to bring back this piece and show a little bit of process on how this GROOT portrait came to be! :)

Hang onto your hats and lets start with a sketch! ;)

Very very rough as you can see, this is purely just to get a form down..

Here I put some light and a little bit more 'mass' to the sketch. I fill in some darks and plan the lights.

Some more refining, staying mostly zoomed out so i can keep a close eye on the value map (the values between dark and light, keep this balanced in your painting for a more convincing image!)

Getting much closer to a finished image, I kept on rendering/refining and made it a little bit more warmer. (the colors)

So very close.. from here on its just redering and refining like almost all the steps.. but i hope you can see how and where i put in the details. as you see it is mostly in the points where i want the viewer to look.. the parts in the shadows are almost left untouched.

Pushed it a little further.. and yes.. i thought this would be done.. BUT.. it didnt quite feel done.. it felt it was not 'GROOT'.. so i messed about in the liquifying tool and deformed and overpainted a little bit. to eventually turn it into this:

DONE!!
