Just the two of us

Dundun and Funfun were known to be best if friends all through their lives. They met the moment they were born and connected by their mothers.

The good part of it is that they grew to love each other so much that by the time they were ten, they started wearing matching outfits like twins.

Technically, they're twins by birth, that is, being born on the same day but biologically they aren't. Their mothers were so happy with their friendship and it naturally turned the two families into one.

Dundun and Funfun attended the same school all through till their university days. Even though they Dundun had to relocate at some point, their parents settled for boarding school just so they would be together.

Like any other relationship, there were times they didn't agree on few things. Major fights were settled by their parents who also gave their candid advise to both of them.

They did everything together till the University. Dundun got admission to study Architecture while Funfun, Accounting, same school.

Once you enter the university, your world changes. It's forcefully encroached by others knowingly or unknowingly.

Soon Dundun and Funfun started drifting apart. They never spoke about it. They were so innocent and oblivious to what university life had to offer.

Dundun started keeping late nights and although Dundun called Funfun to share the location of night out with friends, Funfun was furious and jealous.

It was like a good part of Funfun was taken away. Reports were made to both parents who called them home to settle the issue.

Upon reaching home, Dundun told the parents to revoke the friendship with Funfun. It felt like a lie but it was actually true.

Then, it struck Funfun. All the late nights kept by Dundun was because of another person Dundun met in the department.

Funfun begged and pleaded with Dundun to not revoke their relationship of over 18 years. Funfun felt that it was her fault that's why she was begging.

Unknowingly to both families, Dundun had been initiated into a cult that threatened her family and best friend.

She tried everything she could to leave but it wasn't happening. She found it difficult to confide in her best friend cause of the grievous mistake.

Both families didn't give up their daughter and friend. After careful investigations, they found out what happened and sprung into action.

It took a lot from both families physically, emotionally, financially and mentally to bring their daughter and friend out of the situation.

It affected Dundun academically but then it was the little price she had to pay. She eventually graduated with a Second Class Lower while Funfun with a First Class Honours degree.

Dundun eventually accepted her mistake and went to her best friend first to apologize and cry. They went to their families together to ask for forgiveness.

Of course, Dundun was forgiven by both parties. They advocated for her without her knowing, so what is forgiveness that they can't accept.

Funfun married first and had a forest themed wedding. It's significance is that they as a couple should get ready for the thorns that will come with marriage and together, they can achieve more.

If she can weather the storm during her friendship with Dundun, marriage own should be like a walk in the park.

Dundun went for a second degree, graduated top of her class and married her best friend husband's best man three years later.
