What is your excuse?

Do you hear the call from God to do his will sometimes, only to brush it off and convince yourself it wasn't from God or You simply don't have the right skill set to do what He is asking of you? I will be the first to admit i am guilty of this more than i would like to admit...God gives us many examples in his word of similar situations and answers, so we have no excuse not to do His will...

Jeremiah 1:4-10 KJV

4 Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

6 Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.

7 But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.

9 Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

Jeremiah was only a child (14 at best) when God commanded him to go forth prophesy to the nations leaders, he was sent by God to rebuke them and try turn them from from their evil ways, but as we can see in these first verses, he straight away made an excuse
I am too young! I am not well spoken enough to confront these powerful leaders...the Lord was quick to assure him when the time came God himself would give him the courage and the right words to say..Because jeremiah listened and obeyed God, he went on to do God's will

Another example

Exodus 4:1KJV

4 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The Lord hath not appeared unto thee.

When God commanded Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and speak to Pharoah he was quick to make excuses to, he most likely had a stutter and thought they would not take him seriously and send him away, after much pleading with God, Moses went on with Aaron to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.

Gideon is a good example for who we all can relate to, he didnt just make excuses but also asked for a Sign from God. Then when he got a Sign that was not good enough and had to ask God for another Sign! (Judges 6: 36-40 )God was patient with Gideon and still used him to do his will.

And Jesus gives us a good example

Mathew 8:21-22 KJV

21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

This one may seem a little harsh on Jesus behalf at first, surley there is nothing wrong with wanting to go bury your father then come back and continue to follow Jesus..But Jesus is making a point, there is no excuses, although it sounds harsh, the dead are dead and there is nothing more we can for them...Jesus should be our main focus on all aspects in life...no IF , BUTS, or WHYS

We shouldn't have excuses when God instructs us, i'm just to busy, i'm not good enough, i will next time.and the one i always tell myself...I cant talk about that i dont know my bible well enough...None of that sits with God because when He tells us to dosomething He will be there working through us, He will give us the words...we just have to trust and obey Him.

If God calls us to do his Will and we keep refusing he will be patient for a while but in the end Gods timing is important and if He wants something done He will use us or find someone else, and if we disobey it will be a missed opportunity to please Him and grow closer in our relationship with Him...

Thanks for reading and God bless you all

Sort:

I had struggled with my faith for many years but was always being called back to it. I had a revelation of sorts that changed everything. I feel that I am called to teach against the trinity and to reveal the truth about God. I am not a good speaker and have no formal theological education, but this seems to be the path set before me and I am passionate about it. It's been hard, and there are a lot of attacks and criticism from other Christians but I trust Him.

Sometimes it is hard and stressful and you wonder if you should carry on. Your article is an encouragement to me. Thank you.

Good word, obedience can b difficult at times but it'll always b worth it..

Amen! There is no greater joy than to obey God's voice...
