Application for the position of game assistant

in Steem Africa4 years ago

The #thediarygame participants have drastically increased from Tens to hundreds. Specifically, there are 225 participants in the diary game. When I read the recent publication by @steemitblog, I found out that the rapid increase in the participants has made the team to have a reschedule of plan that was initially to recruit assistants in season two of the game. This made me decided to submit my application.

I wrote an application on 26th of June to join the STEEM PUD, immediately I saw the invitation in a post published by @steemitblog, and I was glad to embrace it to further help the Steem Africa Community. When I saw the vacancy for a game assistant, I wasn't thinking of writing an application because I just dropped one recently, but I discovered in the publication that any member that merit the role of game assistant, would also be part of the steem greeters, and that was how I was convinced to submit my application.

My experience on steem

I've had a series of experiences in the past, but the recent ones mark the beginning of my constant engagement on the platform. After participating in the #the100daysofsteem several times, I was chosen as a curator for the month of June with @steemcurator05 account in my care. The journey made me create an African community called Steem Africa, and we are fast-growing as we've almost clock 200 in less than a month. It's been a great journey and a nice experience so far.

The language

I'm a Nigerian, but our official language is English. I can also write and speak the Nigerian Pidgin fluently. Apart from my native language, which I've never seen a post written in it here, those are the two languages I can comfortably relate with.

5 things that make a good diary post

  • The first thing I will discuss is originality and conformity of the post. The concept behind the diary game is all about daily activities, so anything outside that cannot be classified as a diary game. For instance, if a person posts on how to withdraw steem via Bittrex, it can not be regarded as a diary post, and anything plagiarized is out of the box. There are more examples that can still fit in.

  • Secondly, A diary post should most times display the original images of the poster. Since it is about daily activities, reasonably, at least one image showing or describing one of the day's activities should be displayed. Otherwise, every other image used should be rightly sourced.

  • Number 3, a qualified diary post should not be less than 100 words. Anything less than that cannot be classified as a diary post.

  • Number 4, a good diary post must contain the appropriate tag which is #thediarygame, consist of the proper date, and also the title of every diary post must start with The diary game

  • The 5th point is that a good diary post should include a social media link of screenshot where relevant. Since that is part of the activities that give the participants points, it's important that such links or screenshots are not missing.

Why I think I will make a good game

assistant?

Looking at the job description, below

  • Looking out for new joiner to the game to ensure they get priority voting.
  • Giving diarists tops on how to improve their post
  • Ensuring that posts have included the date in the title of their post
  • Looking out for plagiarism or abuse
  • Encouraging connection between people in the same country
  • Helping promote the game and recruiting people to it

All these descriptions are well digested, and I would like to discuss them one after the other.

  • Looking out for new joiners would not be an issue as far as I'm concerned. The only thing that can affect my work is not being active, which is by far an impossibility with the level of my activities here at the moment. I've curated for almost a month, and I tried to dedicate my time to it and also the steem Africa platform. I'm on point for this course.

  • Giving diarists tips on how to improve their post.
I think this is very important. One of the things I noticed about newbies especially the ones I've come across on Steem Africa is poor post structuring. In one of my comments to @kebi4all, I said I'm planning to do a post on steemit markdown for newbies. It has been one of the issues I noticed, and this will be tackled as soon as possible.

  • Ensuring that posts have included the date in the title of their post.
This will in no way be overlooked, as it is one of the rules of the game.

  • Looking out for plagiarism or abuse.
This was the first rule I was thought when I joined steemit. No plagiarism. I understood the word immediately because That's one of my lecturer's word anytime he gives us an assignment. Understanding it isn't enough, but knowing how to find the source of plagiarized content is key. I think I can do that pretty well. All I need is my internet connection with a google search, and I'm good to go.

  • Encouraging connection between people in the same country.
As the admin of Steem Africa, the basis of creating the community is to bring all Africans together and build the steem ecosystem together with one love. This has started reflecting in the community, and more will be done to get people together even better.

  • Helping promote the game and recruiting people to it.
The main thing that called for the recruitment of game assistant is the overwhelming increase in the #thediarygame participants. This has to continue, and of course, no vacuum should be left unfilled. I'm ready to keep doing what it takes to promote the game and onboard people.

Am I a player?

I've not participated in the diary game. I only took part in contests, of which my participation reduced when I took up the mandate of curating with the @steemcurator05 account. I love contests. I can key in anytime I have extra energy to balance my work. Not always though.

Conclusion

I'm very grateful for all the opportunities and support from @steemcurator01, and @steemitblog. Giving me the opportunity to render my services is a pleasure, and more importantly, the Steem Africa community that was created with their help is a blessing. Looking forward to more chances to render my services wholeheartedly. Thanks

Sincerely, @beautychicks.
