I have not gotten my eyebrows waxed or anything for probably about a year and a half. Most of the time when I would go to get my eyebrows done I would say the same thing, "Keep the shape, just clean them up... please." I would always get confirmation that they would do that. Except time and time again I would walk out completely livid because my eyebrows were a different shape and a lot smaller.

I don't know what it is, but as soon as people see my thick and dark eyebrows, the first thing they want to do is make them skinny and wax a lot of my hair off. This completely baffles me because the trend now with eyebrows is very natural and thick. Anyways, this is why I have resorted to tweezing. I wanted to avoid another experience like this at all costs.

So rewind to about a month ago, a new Ulta had opened by my place which was a godsend. I popped in to pick up some products from the new MAC Holiday collection. As I was looking around I was approached by a woman at the Brow Bar trying to get me to book an appointment. I was like, "Ummm no thank you I've had enough bad experiences getting my eyebrows waxed." Then she sold me the pitch and I bought it. So I made an appointment.

When I got to my appointment, the woman who was going to do my eyebrows (Cristina) was there and ready to go. The first thing she had me do was sign a waiver which I wasn't expecting. It asked about medications you were taking and some other things that you had to sign off on. But I wasn't too phased by that. So I signed my brows away and really hoped it would be a good experience.

First of all, Cristina was such a lovely and amazing gal. We had great conversations throughout the duration of my waxing and she made me feel really comfortable. I have very sensitive skin so she started by putting an oil – not sure what kind – in the areas where she would be waxing to help with sensitivity and to make sure the skin would not pull.

She then created a brow map, this is what sold me on the pitch. They create a map around your eyebrows of where they are going to wax and what they will look like. I think she used the Brow Zings to create the lines around my brows. Once I was good with the map, she got to waxing.

Apparently Benefit has a special wax formula they use that is great with sensitive skin, so I was here for that. The wax was smooth and really didn't hurt as much as other waxing experiences I have had. Once that was complete, she took her time and tweezed and trimmed my brows so that they looked perfect.

After that, she added some soothing cream and a primer to reduce the redness. She then filled in my brows with the Benefit Brow Zings and put the Benefit Brow Gel Over it and even put on concealer to help with the redness even more. Overall, I was thrilled with the result. In the picture they look really dark, but that's only because I wasn't wearing any other makeup. I was super happy with the service I got and the result. They really understand what they are doing!

My only complaint is that it was $21 which is quite expensive. It was worth it because of everything Cristina did and the result, but it's not something I can afford to do every two weeks. Maybe once a month to a month and a half. However, I was so happy with how it came out that I would definitely spend that money to do it again!
