Hello kids and lovers of kids, I appreciate the opportunity I have to share my little knowledge with you.
Today I will be discussing an important subject that every child should know about which is how to handle an emergency before the doctor arrives or before the ambulance arrives, this process is called FIRST AID.

What is first Aid

First aid is the medical assistant given to a person who was involved in an accident before an ambulance or a doctor arrives.

For children first aid is the assistance you can give to your fellow kid before an adult comes to for help.

Eg Tony Michael and Churchill were playing in the play ground or at home unfortunately Tony feel down and bump his head then Micheal quickly gets the first aid box or kit while Churchill hurry up to call an ambulance or any available adult.

In this instance Michael is now a first Aider and like I mentioned he needs a first Aid box to save Tony's life, that is the most reason why every home or school needs a first Aid box or kit.

The video describes the content of a first Aid box or kit and this includes;

• Kidney dish
• A pair of scissors
• A forceps
• An anticeptic
• A guaze bandage
• Plaster
• An ice pack
• Cotton wool
• A towel
• Analgesic like paracetamol.
• Gentian Violet
• Iodine tinture
• Methylated spirit.
• Disposable gloves
• Mepisan or Artisan cream

Tutorial on handling first Aid

One thing is to have the needed kit another thing is to know how to handle the kit.
Let's take it step by step.
If it is an open wound that is bleeding we need to help stop the bleeding to avoid Lossing lots of blood

Step 1.

Put a call through for help, call a doctor or any adult around.

Step 2.

Put on your gloves, then take your forceps and pick a deserve amount of cotton wool, add a little amount of methylated spirit in the kidney dish then clean the surface of the wound, also add a little amount of savlon then get a new cotton wool and disinfect the wound to avoid future problem like titanus and cancer.

Step 3

Get an adequate amount of cotton wool then wrap it up with an adequate amount of guaze bandage then cover the affected area to help stop bleeding. Make sure the child relaxes so as not to add more pressure to the affected area and bleeding will continue.

It is very important to stop the bleeding because the person can bleed to becoming anemic that can lead to death.

Someone might say what if there is no open wound but Tony's head is inflamed or swollen.

That is where an icepack and the towel in the first Aid kit comes into work.
The first aider should use the towel and wrap the ice pack then place it on the affected area for 5-15 mins then take it off, repeat that for 3 or four times the swollen area which was as a result of contracted muscles will go down or deflate.

Never apply an icepack directly to the body as it might result to siezure, shock and even lead to death.

Someone might ask what if Tony and I was just playing and some insects bite her and the area got swollen or is itching her.

Immediately apply the mepisan or Artisan cream on the affected area, then report immediately to avoid further harm.

Note that in all my tutorial I highlighted the importance of calling an adult immediately to avoid further harm that might endanger a childs life.

Conclusion

It is very important that each family have a first Aid box and help the children know what to do at any point in time because it takes just a second to die and life has no duplicate.
