Learning to jog...
Every year, I try and learn something new. A few years ago, I learned to swim! I am still terrified of deep water, but I am actually a pretty good swimmer now after taking lessons and overcoming my fear of swimming.
This year, I have decided that I would like to try to learn to jog! Now bear in mind that I haven't jogged before in my 38 years on this planet, so this is no easy task! I also have asthma and I am really unfit due to gaining weight from my thyroid disease, but enough of my excuses lol
The Hubster used to be an exceptional runner, he actually competed and did very well in his younger days. So he has been assigned the role of 'jogging coach'.
I started off on our daily walk with the dogs on the football (Soccer) field. I warmed up by walking half way around the field, stretched and then jogged along one edge of the field. I then speed walked back up the same side. I managed this a couple of times before my legs felt like they were going to snap!
I was a bit gutted at the amount of times I was able to do the jog, but I guess I have made a start.
I am going to keep a record of my progress here on Steemit to keep me accountable for my efforts, but also to share my successes and hopefully give others the confidence to try something new too!
Our bodies are amazing vessels and we can push them further than we think, even when you have health issues holding you back. You may just need to adapt slightly to achieve the same results as others. OH, and don't forget to invest in some good running shoes! :)
Thank you to unsplash.com for the free images and to you guys for reading! Much love, @beautifulbullies xx

Life It's lessons We must learn these lessons And overcome our fears
Absolutely! I agree 100% :)
Yes 😘❤
I am an aqua therapist and swimming instructor. We have many clients battling with asthma , weak joints , thyroid conditions etc. Water helps to reduce the problematic conditions. Swimming is excellent exercise to regulate breathing and weight. And it improve immunity and metabolism.... It is also soft on the muscles , hence risk of injury is almost nil. Try it, @beautifulbullies . It is truly good. Many of our clients have benefited . I am a complete water person :)
are there no end's to your talents! :) Yes, Swimming has been amazing therapy for me since my car accident 2 years ago. I haven't done it for a while though, but maybe I should make the effort to get back into it again :)
Yes , you should, @beautifulbullies. Swimming will really help you, mentally and physically. Swimming is my source of bread and butter. 😊.. I am not a competitive swimmer. I am an instructor and a aqua counselor. It is a fun job. I get to meet and help people, be with children and be in the water.
Sad to know about the accident. I hope you were not hurt too badly. Water is miraculous. So get into water, @beautifulbullies. You will not regret. 😊💕
That's great! Im sport specialist and I start training Jiu Jitsu from one mount, but im addicted now.. it's so crazy l.. I were 10years professional swimmer,2 years national water polo player, and 6 years in National Sports Academy I pass thru all sports... So my advice is Stay positive, train every day and you will achieve everything you want! Good Luck! :)
Wow! Sounds like you have been very successful in your sports! :D I just want to be able to jog and keep jogging for at least 10 minutes without having to stop for breath lol thank you for the encouragement! :)
Once you get started jogging or any exercise, it gets easier and easier to do. I know because I've done it before. The hard part, and where I'm stuck at again, is getting started. I know that once I go for a little while, I will continue until something happens to break my pattern and I'm unable to recover from it. I get lazy again. I really need to get started.
Ah go find your inspiration! :D I must admit, although I was disheartened at the lack of distance I was able to cover, I did feel great afterwards for the boost of endorphine's running through my body! :) dust off your running shoes, we can encourage each other :)
One of my problems is no proper running shoes. Also I live in a part of the Philippines where they do not have shoes that are my size. I wear size 12-13 shoes and I rarely see any over size 10 here. I've got some okay shoes for jogging or speed walking. My biggest problem is finding the initial motivation to get going.
how about ordering shoes online? But then again, with running shoes I guess it is better to try them on first to make sure they are comfortable :/ Yes, motivation is hard to find when you are stuck in a routine of not exercising, but we can all help each other out here and motivate each other to get going :)
The practice of exercise is fundamental. Personally I don't really like water sports, but overcoming fears and goals is one of the things that gives us the most pride.
Congratulations and a good learning!
thank you so much! :)
That is excellent to hear! Working out can certainly help in so many ways
yes, I need to up my exercise this year. last year I worked hard at recovering my mobility from my car accident and now I want to get back to being fit and healthy again :)
two rules for you:
-start running
-don't stop
and you'll eventually get to your target ;)
lol well that sounds easy enough... ;)
Inspiring and also I must say: really great done! I think you are doing good, you made the decision and you have begun!!! Great work:)
Thank you for your support! :)
