THE BLOB FISH

We know that politicians are not sensitive souls,
They really can’t be, given their roles.
Politics is a business given to dirt,
It’s no use having sensibilities easily hurt.
The other day, watching U.S. cable news,
I was intrigued to note political story views.
A member of the United States senate,
Was photographed showing a popular tenet,
Namely, that the senator resembled a Blob Fish
A comparison of which one wouldn’t wish.
Facially speaking, to be sure,
A nose that definitely doesn’t lure,
I have to say, a striking resemblance did exist.
Blob Fish are not normally fished.
But this fish from the depths, as far as it goes,
Looked strikingly like the senator’s forehead and nose.

Now, if a person was to be compared to a fish
One could choose many other species to wish,
To have a facial similarity to,
Yes, a preferred resemblance to imbue.
But rather then professing a loss of composure,
Rather than embarassedly limiting exposure.
Such politicians do exhibit a rhinoceros-type hide,
Impenetrably thick, no gap to abide,
One may guess they attempt to laugh it off!
With never a twitch or nervous cough.
Yes, it is “full steam ahead,”
Oblivious to what has been said.

But should we also examine such wish,
That may occur to offend the Blob Fish?
That fish may well be totally appalled.
To have it’s species so readily recalled.
As joke makers compare them to a senate member.
In any given month, January to December.
Spare a thought for this low-profile fish
Minding it’s own affairs in some marine abyss.
We don’t expect that they have access to U.S. cable news,
But, undoubtedly, they would have their own firm views.
