AN ECOLOGICAL VANDAL

He rushed outside, shirt tails a-flapping,
And stared aghast at the desecration crapping,
His beautiful lawn, now covered in muddy ruts,
Sheer vandalism, no ifs or buts!
His face turned white, pink and then red,
He was becoming most upset, equilibrium fled!
Who had done this treacherous act?
The culprit must be found, and then sacked!

“For many hours, and days too,”
“Work in my garden, I did pursue.”
“And now, just as it was perfect at last,”
“I awoke to a storm’s vicious blast!”
The storm being you, in your huge truck,
Rutting my grass, spreading your muck.
And, as though that wasn’t enough,
You operate your tipper, to dump all that stuff.
Now, following your ransack and pillage,
I’ll have to hire help from our village.
To labour at length, to put everything right.
As you know, this labour, takes considerable might!

“Who is to pay? To effect restitution,”
“Labour’s not cheap. Nor is pollution!”
“I would call the authorities in,”
“But they would be in on it, what a grave sin!”
“You’d think that for little, even for tuppence,”
“Whoever did this would get their come-uppence!”
“I suppose we can do nought, but wait and see,”
“What the final result, now, will be!”
