Day 110

According to my app I'm now 15 weeks and 5 days pregnant. After a worrisome first few weeks which resulted in a very early 6 week scan I'm happy to say things have been ok.

Yes I've been complaining about my knee, and my face, and general tiredness, and yes I've been very short of patience (more than usual) but at least no more stomach pains.

Midwives

Last week was a pretty good week for us. I got the blood test done and we met and fell in love with our midwife.

It's funny how the universe works. We were recommended another midwife but she seemed unreliable and uninterested, and after leaving multiple messages and not receiving a reply, we decided to move on. That's when we found our midwife who, imho, is a total gem and the perfect fit for us.

After the horror birthing I experienced 18 years ago it was really important for me to have control over my body, my birth and my baby this time around. I can't describe how it felt to not be cared about from birthing to afterwards and I remember wondering for a long time if I even brought the right baby home.

In the haze that it was I recall being in a room with no assistance while midwives drifted in and out of the room. Asking for assistance while shift changes happened, to being left in the room after giving birth, waiting for ages not knowing what was going on and what's happening next. To them taking the baby, me to my room, being left in a room by myself, being scared and crying all night, not seeing anyone until sometime the next day.

Not. Going. To. Happen. Again.

I asked our midwife what would happen if, God forbid, we had to go to hospital and she reassured me that she will not leave my side and she will be there every step of the way during and after the baby is born.

My husband also knows about all this and although he hasn't reassured me that he won't leave my side, I know he wouldn't and I know he wouldn't hesitate to ask questions and put his foot down if he felt something wasnt right.

Having my team lined up and on board really helps me be in a good and relaxed head space for birthing.

Various Fixes

All I need to concern myself about now is my health. In particular figuring out how solve my various ailments.

Last week was essential oils week and although the face scrub works great (full review once the trial tub is finished!), the knee oil however, isn't going too well only because it needs regular application.

But!!! The bone broth is amazing!!

During our meeting with our midwife last week I mentioned my ailments and my cravings and as I suspected my cravings were directly linked to my ailments and a couple of days later Hubby got on to sourcing grass fed beef/bones and on Saturday I made my first batch of bone broth.

And last night I thought I didn't make it properly because it didn't gel, but this morning when I went grab myself broth from the container I noticed it gelled up!

I'm on my 2nd day of the bone broth and already I feel my knee is a bit better. 🙌🙌 Thank you! I'm pretty sure I was approaching week 3 on the bunged up knee and it's been a nightmare especially at night when I'm trying to sleep.

I reckon I've got enough broth to last me til Friday but I luckily I still have enough bones and ingredients for another batch sometime this week and since the method I used worked so well I'll stick to that.

Today!!

Today we have an appointment with our doctor to get the results and to get referrals for our midwife and ultrasound!

We were going to wait til the end of the month for the ultrasound to time it with Hubby's birthday so finding out bub's gender would be his birthday present, but who knows, we just might get it done today!

So yeh! Big day today! Test results, possible ultrasound. Definitely no gardening today though!

🤞🤞🤞

Thanks Choo but the doc reckons we wait another couple of weeks, so seems like we're meant to find out on Hubby's birthday ❤🥳
