Life, challenges and the Universe self correcting

in #blog8 years ago (edited)

(This is me most days. You'd be hard pressed to find proof of tears from me lol)

January, I'm not gonna lie, has been a terrible month for me in so many ways.

It was an inundation of crap after crap, from all angles, from Steemit, to the rental agency, to everything else in between.

The only thing that kept moving me forward was our house and now that we're here I'm faced with even more challenges.

I just need it to stop or at least get a break from the amount of crap I'm dealing with. Everything at the moment feels like an uphill battle and it's all getting a bit much.

Challenges

I always try to view challenges as opportunities to grow stronger and smarter.

Like my rat problem for example.

I've read through dozens of websites and everyone's suggestions in the comments of my previous post and I reckon by now I've got at least 6 things on my list to try.

And wouldn't you know, a Kookaburra just flew up in one of our trees as I'm writing about the rats.

They are on my list!

Did you know Kookaburras are skilled rat hunters?

I learned that from one of the ladies in the Blue Mountains Social page on Facebook when I tried to borrow someone's unwanted Diamond Python in their back yard.

I was all.. Please can I borrow him? We have a rat problem. lol

Which, btw, I learned cannot be moved without a license, so there goes that idea. I'm hoping the lady is a neighbor and that Python will find it's way to me cos I want him lol

The Universe self correcting.

I live an extremely blessed existence. Somehow, someway, things ALWAYS magically work out in my favor.

Even when I'm wading through shit creek without a paddle, in that pile of steaming shit, will be a random gold nugget.

This was my gold nugget yesterday.

Can you see him? Here's a zoom shot.

I was in the office unpacking and when I finally walked out to get another lot of crystals from the "charging table" I saw this guy up on the tree.

I love trees, y'all know I do, but I'm not gonna lie, that tree gone has done wonders to our view.

People have said, what if they build a huge house right there and they end up blocking our view with a house.

This is a residential zone and from previous research when we were planning on building, the max height is 8m from ground to roof according to the Blue Mountains City Council.

This is about 8m, maybe a tad bit more.

The house across the road is the builders house and I doubt, even if the council permitted it, he would drop a monstrosity across the road from his own house.

But the council will never buy in to a huge block of units. That's just not how the Blue Mountains works, this is one of the reasons we chose to come up, because this council protects the environment and it's people's way of life.

They won't even allow fast food outlets up here.

The last McDonald's before you come up is at Blaxland, roughly 35 minutes away from me. There was talk that KFC was allowed up, but that was about 2 years ago and still no KFC.

We're different up here and I like that.

So back to my new view..

Here's yesterday's photo.

This is how it looks this morning.

How's that for a random gold nugget? 😁

As for those rats.

I don't know what the pest guy did yesterday but I can't smell that smell in the kitchen today, even though he said he couldn't smell it.

No rat tracks where we've usually seen them and a lot less poop around the property.

Also the stray ants have disappeared, as for the cockroaches and spiders we never saw them inside the house to begin with, and I doubt they'd even attempt it if they witnessed the dousing yesterday.

He went to town THAT hard, it took all day for the solution to dry up inside the house.

All pet and human friendly of course, but I still had to keep Fluffy in the laundry while the solution dried.

So today?

I'm deciding not to focus on my troubles. I permitted myself to shed a few tears before I sucked the rest back in and now Im getting on with my day and finding a way to overcome or bypass the obstacles in my path.

This helps me.

Today's tip?

Keep going and stay positive. Shed a tear if you need to release your emotions. It's actually quite healthy to have a cry here and there. But make sure you get back up and dust yourself off.

And if you need help just ask. You never know what will happen.

Before I got to the end I did have a mind to say please just bawl your little heart out if you need to, you'll feel calmer afterwards and then you can go back to whacking those stupid problems upside the head XD

Seems like you're getting on top of the rat problem at least. Kookaburras and pythons will do the job XD And yay for that tree being taken down? The shire up there does sound good :) Which reminds me I need to ask the REA about subdivision at the potential new house. We're currently trying to escape being surrounded by units (although my regret there is that's exactly what will happen to this lovely old house DX) so not too keen on going somewhere else where we could potentially be surrounded by units in a few years XD

goatsig

Yeh I'm eyeballing 50 litres of ammonia atm and get a whole Ghostbusters backpack thing happening but with ammonia lol

That sounds like a sucky deal hun. The concrete jungle is slowly overtaking everything. We witnessed this in Blacktown, all of a sudden all the houses around us were being sold and next thing you know there's heaps of townhouses up. Better than units, but still.

Find a council you like.

Ours is still fighting the Western Sydney Airport because they know what it will do to all of us. You want to live where the council gives a shit. 💗

Holy Moly 50 litres! do you have all the safety gear and stuff Arly? be careful please

And f$#k the councils that bow down to the big corporates.

lol is 50 litres overkill @gio6? It looks like I won't be needing it. Whatever the guy did, it's been 2 days since we've seen tracks and poop.

I hope someone up there is looking after me, cos it was seriously driving me bonkers.

Hope you're having a great day mate!

Enough to kill a small army 😂😂 20L is enough I think.

It's good the rats are gone, you too have a good one Arly :)

You'll get thru this period and you'll be stronger for it. You're one of the most tenacious ppl I know on here. Your view is fantastic and soon everything else will be too. I love you B1, u ever need to talk shoot me a msg. Your friend @goldenarms 😊

I love you boo. Thanks for always being here for me.

One step at a time and I'll conquer all my shit lol 💗

I like your quote 'shit creek without a paddle'. However, we always have paddles; our hands. Even with there is a shit-wave, and no paddle, we have to use everything we have to move forward, even if that means getting super dirty (and stinky)!
I consider myself a strong man, both physically and emotionally. And when I say I am emotionally strong, that means I am able to cry when I am feeling emotional. Tears are our way of showing emotion, and not a sign of weakness.

hahah yes you got it. Paddling through shit creek with our hands. It's unpleasant but needs to be done, it's just how it is really.

I'm glad you can cry and not only is it a way of showing emotion it is also a form of release. Definitely not a sign of weakness.

I feel ya and I hope everything turns out better for you really soon. I'm in the same boat and it just feels like all 4 walls are closing in on me. Like you, I'm trying to keep a positive attitude about it all and look at it as a learning experience that will only make me stronger. Just know you have us here to support you and always have your back!

Thanks so much @cloh76.

I hope things work out soon for you too, I'm sad to hear you're in the same boat.

If you need anything (just not graphics lol), just holla, you know I got you bro 💗

It's the little things that get us through the day. ;)

I could well imagine the Kookaburra being a lethal hunter. Look out rats! crosses fingers

lol I got a few Haha smiles on my post.
It was so worth the shot. Hubby was all.. NOO when I told him I tried to borrow a python 😂😂

Thank you momi. I needed this. ❤

I hope you're ok Danda. I love you 💗

I love that piece (sorry I don't know the right term) in your wall ma'am. I think everyone should have that so whenever we are feeling down, we just look at the wall to get our heads straight up.
By the way, the man cutting the trees is amazing. I have fear of heights while he's like spiderman hanging there hehe.

Everything will be alright mamshie. :) As what Demi Lovato said:
"No matter what you're going through, there's a light at the end of the tunnel and it may seem hard to get to it but you can do it and just keep working towards it and you'll find the positive side of things." :D

Fighting! :D

Ahh, simplicity. I really like the way you end your posts and reply's with "stay positive" - because often, there be room for improvement.
