It's Australia Day today and it's lamb on the barbie day.

I don't know where the "Shrimp on the barbie." comes from but for starters we call them Prawns.

Today we broke our vegetarian run and had lamb.

Lamb cutlets, lamb chops, lamb ribs.

Kinda made up for 7 months of no meat today.

I gotta say, it was delicious and I was extremely thankful for every bite.

It was a nice and relaxing day spent at our new house, with our new barbie.

I can't remember when I last had a backyard I could enjoy. A place where I can put the picnic blanket down and gaze at the clouds all day long.

And I did just that today.

I didn't even care all that much if the neighbors could see me.

Today, it finally sunk in. This is our house.

We own a beautiful slice of the Blue Mountains and today of all days, I'm extra happy to be Australian.

Australia to me...

is Home. This is where I grew up, where my daughter and nephews were born. It's where my life is.

This is where I learned my please and thank yous.

Where I learned to be fearless in my honesty.

Where I learned to survive.

Where I learned not be an up yourself dickhead or else people will just give you shit about it.

Over here down under, people keep you real.

I love that about Australia and Aussies.

It doesn't matter who you think you are, there's always gonna someone who'll set your ass straight and bring you back down to Earth.

And if you need help, people are always ready to lend a hand.

So what does being Australian mean to me?

It means everything, a lot of who I am now is because of my time here, if we never came here I would be a completely different person. I'm so grateful to be here, have grow up here and I'm proud to call myself Australian.

People say "Invasion Day.", I say "Thanks for having me Day."
