So the question is; will SMT REALLY take off?

Sort:

The advantage of Steem is that generally speaking, the blockchain and platforms associated with it are much more mature in many ways. For instance, there are already many interfaces to the Steem blockchain. Not so with the clones. Also, it is already a distributed system, not so with at least some of the clones and we can see the consequences with Weku right now.

To make an old school comparison, I think Steem has the opportunity to become the Usenet of the 21st century. While Usenet still exists, it is hardly used anymore (relatively speaking). The great thing about it was that it was essentially a distributed forum by which people could communicate about every subject imaginable. Web forums ultimately replaced it. Features were much improved but the communities were fractured. With Usenet there was no need for cross-platform blogging. Steem COULD become the backbone of all (or at least most) social networking/blogging. It won't be a matter of chosing a platform anymore, just choose your preferred interface. There are already options to interface Wordpress with Steem, why not other blogging and social networking platforms as well?

There is room for more than one of course but I think for the clones to succeed on the level of Steem they or going to have to do more to differentiate themselves or Steem is going to have to really drop the ball (which is entirely possible).

Well.. WeKu ...is definately a scam. I'm on SMOKE tho

clones yes but in life it is hard to beat the original. Thanks @bearbear613

Fully agree. And I do not care at all those clones. And have not found even one single reason to blog over there, instead of steemit.

Silly old and salty man ;)

If it is WORTH crypto and exchangeabl; wouldn't that be reason enough? People on Steemit post to facebook, twitter, instagram etc. etc.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting. Love the old salted ones

I may change my opinion one day, once I see those Bear, Weku (or other) tokens on Binance or Bittrex. And the reasinably large user base there. So far, my time is limited, not endless, and every hour spent for Alt's would reduce my time left for the main platform. Which is Steem, and it's comin numerous SMT s. Everyone can have his own priorities, right ?

SMOKE is listed..

unfortunatelly, this one is the least atractive to me, from the whole list

I don't know about that. However seeing how cross-platform blogging works; there is no reason to LEAVE

Thanks for the information, I'm going to register in all, I do not care anything hahaha

The future is SMT and there are way more than. 5 clones of steemit ...
