Survivalist water competition!
Yesterday I posted a little about my prepping supplies. The number one thing anyone worries about before even food; is clean water.
Being in Toronto and close to the great lakes/winter it will be a little easier obtaining water. Although this is essential to living, clean water sources generally have to be sourced.
A lot of work goes into treating our water. Here is a great clip on what goes on:
So “if” we were faced with problems with our water and we are in urban areas, what do we do?
Well number one there are sources of clean water already stored up in your homes.
Looks kinda dirty, but it’s cleaner than some lake water. Sure there is chlorine and fluoride, but in an emergency and without boiling this might be your first place to get it.
Testing Water
It’s good to have on hand testing strips for any water that hasn’t been treated. Along with that, if their is total failure there are tons of water purifiers on the market. I didn’t realize how many different types I bought. Most likely overkill, but here are a few I took a snap of.
And for big loads I recommend the Big Berkey water filter!
In any case, you can never be too safe. Water is a number #1 essential commodity for any developed or developing country. We often take it for granted in the first world. Stay prepared for any doomsday scenario, or at least at minimum short term disasters.
Be safe, hope this gave you some ideas if you ever thought about this.

I don't think you can ever go too overboard on water filtration and/or purification! I've got tabs, and a life straw and an MSR (can't remember the name, but I think it's the older version of what you have there)... Been thinking about dropping the cash for one of the Berkeys or maybe getting the supplies to roll my own.
Great post!
