So near but yet, so far
Tomorrow is the day that I've been waiting for. At midnight tonight, my husband will get on a plane to visit us and I can't wait to see him. It's been 3 months since he started his new job in a new country and there are no words to explain how much the children and I miss a husband and a father. Being a single, working and studying mother of three very young children is hard. I'm not the most positive person who've ever existed, so to me, this situation really sucks!
Even though I am jumping for joy, the kids, however, have no clue that he is coming tomorrow. I told them he is coming soon but I didn't say when. Their father is their hero. Whatever he says goes and he is just the general good cop. It is a major thing for them to be without him as he is the calmer one between the two of us. When I'm stressed or depressed, I tend to send out negative vibes, whereas he has the ability to stay calm in almost any situation, whether it's good or bad.
This arrangement will be a huge surprise to them! They will go to school as normal tomorrow while I fetch my husband at the airport. At the end of the school day, he will collect them from their classes which they would never expect.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'm a control freak. I have to plan every step of everything I do very carefully and in detail and although this should be just a 'spur of the moment' thing where it should just be a pleasant surprise for them, I can't help but to think of what their reactions would be. I'm sure we all think "Well of course they'll be happy" but I'm not so sure. This isn't something that they've experienced before and I'm just scared about how this will affect them in the long run...not psychologically, no....but what if the shock is so big that they lose control of their emotions in such a way that (and I'm more specifically talking about my eldest son now) they will be judged or labelled by their classmates as cry babies or something? We all know how mean children can be!
You might think I'm being ridiculous and that I'm thinking too deep about it, but this is truly a concern for me. They have been through so much different and new things, and I'm not quite sure that they have really adjusted into this new setting yet. But before you think I'm narrow minded and can't think further than my nose, keep reading:
Luckily, there is always a Plan B!
Plan B usually works best.
Let's eliminate the other kids and have a private surprise reunion where all the other kids cannot see anything. This way, they can have any emotion at any time on any level and be cool with it too. Obviously, this is the better plan, right?
So anyways...
I took tomorrow and Friday off from work as we're going away for a long weekend. Needless to say, I will take off from Steemit too as we need to make the most of our week... Yup, you heard right. He's only coming for a week! I already get depressed at the thought of him having to leave us behind again, thus the heading:
So near but yet, so far!
We're not entirely sure as to WHEN we'll be able to see each other again, but for now the plan is that the kids and I will join him there at the end of June when I've finished my responsibilities on this side. It's three months ahead as well.
This is not a life. One does not get married and have children to live apart. It was a lot easier planning this whole thing than to see it through, but we know that we don't have a choice at the moment. It is what it is.
As I've mentioned earlier, I'll be taking a leave but I'm definitely going to take lots and lots AND LOTS AND LOTS of photo's which I will share whenever I get a chance to do so.
Saying that I'm excited is an understatement! I can't wait to see him walking out at the airport early tomorrow morning where I will be waiting for him with a huge grin on my face, but the ultimate would be the kids' faces when they see him. I have been wishing time to go by faster, but now I'd like it to stop. Clock is ticking...

Hats off to you @bdmomuae for doing this. I hate the times my husband has to go off for a week on courses, can only imagine how you have been feeling this past three months.
Sjoe dis lank wag - geniet elke oomblik en hoop julle is gou weer saam as gesin
From your writing, I can feel the excitement in the air. Wishing you and the kids a wonderful time as daddy comes home. As per your plans its gonna be a big good surprise for the kids which I bet they won't be forgetting soon. Good luck.
Enjoy and embrace every moment!!
"So near but yet, so far" sound so deep. Are you in love my friend? :)
Your kids are going to be absolutely over the moon!!! I can understand your worries about other kids seeing them because kids can at times be cruel. You could totally be the one to go in and pick them up and have dad hiding in the car. Whatever you choose to do it will be perfect because of the way you described their affection for him. I can only imagine the excitement you yourself must be feeling. It is never easy to be away. I gave had to do it for a month before but never as long as you are. I hope you have an amazing weekend with your family. Look forward to hearing all about it next week.
Im even more excited for the kids. That's gonna be an unforgettable suprise. I can also imagine how eager you are for tomorrow to come. Im even getting excited now... lol
