Temples of the Belarusian Polesye - Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, village of Krasnoe.

In Gomel region there is a huge number of temples, among which there are both very ancient and recently erected. I will try to acquaint you with the temples of the Belarusian Polesye, many of which are monuments of architecture.

In village of Krasnoe, not far from Gomel, (Belarus, Gomel region, agrohorodok Krasnoe 52.468985, 30.919435) in honor of the patronal feast: Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, on August 28, 1779, a wooden Uspensky church was built, which later, in the years of Soviet power, was completely destroyed.

All these years, Divine services were held in a prayer house built in 1927 and parishioners could only dream of a new church. And only in 1996, on the donations of parishioners and with the help of sponsor organizations of Gomel, under the leadership of the parish priest Mikhail Savelyev, the construction of a large stone church began.

Construction lasted four years and ended on the eve of the feast day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, August 27, 2000. From 2000 to 2009, finishing works and reconstruction of the domes of the church took place. Now, this Orthodox church is open and pleases parishioners and guests with its splendor!
