World War 2: It is so important to "keep the memories alive" ! Why we do it.

A lott of people in the community grew up with happiness and freedom, and off course freedom of speech. In this matter, particularly World War 2 Europe, and my own country The Netherlands it was not always this obvious to have this freedom. A lot of our grandparents know and still tell us about how it was to live in a war where it was not even possible to say what you think.

My generation and new generations have no idea how it would have been living in a war. Also for myself it is so hard to imagine how it should have been in 1939-1945 #ww2.

Telling the stories, showing the battlegrounds, and let everyone experience how it possibly was in 40-45 is very important. Creating awareness among new generations so that they understand that freedom does not come naturally is important.

Like I said before, keep the memories alive is our motto.

I feel this way very strongly. It's always such a powerful experience when I've walked into the cathedrals that were bombed in Germany and then left standing.

Right now, in the Southern USA, monuments from the Civil War era are being torn down, and though I understand why people feel like that is ok, I really think it is foreboding. It is important for us to remember what has come to pass, so that it does not come again.
