How to Ditch Your Excuse Factory

Excuse factories can help you avoid a lot of trouble. If you keep repeating the same excuses, however, they can start to get in the way of your life. Let's review a few reasons why you might want to ditch your excuse factory and replace it with a new one.

One simple reason why you should ditch your excuse factory is because you are using it to justify failure. In fact, excuse factories seem to make life that much harder when it comes to handling rejection. For example, if you keep insisting that you didn't have enough time to do what you wanted to do, the company or manager will simply tell you to go do it at a different time.

What if that's how you "win" the job? When you have a motive for being really hard on yourself, that's when failure creeps in. When you're convinced that every rejection you get is because of something else, you start to feel that way and therefore respond with excuses.

Another common reason for people to use excuses is because they are trying to be really careful and deliberate about their actions. Some people tend to do things at a snail's pace, because they think that no one will notice that they're not really trying. These people think that people are only going to notice that they didn't try, but really that's just an excuse that they are putting on. When they say they tried, they mean they pushed their bodies and minds as hard as they could but still ended up failing.

So when the opportunity presents itself, they'd rather say they didn't do it because they were too busy working on this than admit that they didn't have the time. You need to recognize the difference between wanting something and what is really necessary to get it.

Unfortunately, there are also some people who use their excuse factory in order to avoid dealing with a problem that they themselves might have. In other words, they are so committed to fixing something that they will simply not do it themselves. It may be that they are afraid that doing the work they need to do will only make things worse.

Because of this, it is important that you learn to distinguish between the two types of excuses - the ones that the excuse factories create and the ones that you make. If you can figure out which ones you actually need to solve, you'll be a lot better off.

The first step to finding the real answers to the problems you are facing is to get rid of your excuses. Why? Because you'll be better able to identify the things that you really need to solve and will be better able to focus on them.

Also, there are several ways to get started doing this, including books and even how-to books. However, if you are going to make use of one of these approaches, it is worth spending a little extra time on it because the steps you take there are going to be reinforced by the things you find through your own research.

One thing you should be able to learn quickly is the difference between needing and wanting what you want. What you may need is also something that you genuinely want.

You'll also discover that you can determine what you want without having to buy anything. If you don't have what you want, that's fine, but if you can't find it without spending anything, the importance of buying things to get it is greatly diminished.

Getting rid of your excuse factory isn't easy. However, once you have done it once, you'll realize that the real benefits are in having more time to spend with the people you care about.
