How Is Your Intention Aligned With Your Impact?

"How is your intent aligned with your impact?" is a common question. Often, I get the "Do what I do, not what I want" answer from people who need a business. In business, it's all too easy to think of what you do rather than what you want. At least, that was my experience up until last year. Since I've had a change of heart and want to live my life in alignment with my values and purpose, I have been more aware of my intentions and aligning them with my impact.


My transformation came when I realized "doing what I want" wasn't serving me very well. Instead of aligning my intentions with my impact, I was causing myself more stress and anxiety. So, instead of thinking about how I'm going to create wealth, I stopped focusing on getting rich and started connecting the dots. Here's what I did:

I deliberately chose to live my life in alignment with my values and purpose. I consciously chose to create a lifestyle after consulting with a coach, and with the guidance of that coach, I decided to shift my mindset. Now I'm grateful for having finally found an outlet for my creativity and to use that to creatively create my business. But here's the important part. Once I connected with my impact, everything else began to change, too!

By choosing to live my life in alignment with my values and purpose, my mindset became one of listening first. Instead of thinking about what I want, I started to listen to what needs to get done. I started to see situations from a resourceful and positive perspective. Instead of trying to make money or manage my business, I began to focus on the joy of helping others succeed. And ultimately, I started to focus on my ultimate intention for being in business.

This is a key question. You have to ask yourself this question if you ever want to become financially successful or happy. The answer is this: Do you know where your true intent is? Where is your heart's true intention for being in business? Your heart's intention will be aligned with your impact, so if you want financial success, you need to align your intent with making money.

If you want to feel joy, then you must feel your ultimate intention for being in business and aligning your intent with that joy. If you align your intent with any other emotion, whether it's sadness or anger or fear, then those emotions will consume your business. So, instead of becoming a fighter, and aligning your intent with any negative emotion, set aside those emotions and imagine what you would feel when you were joy. See yourself making money in your business, and imagine how wonderful that feels.

How is your intent aligned with your impact? If you don't know, ask questions until you do. When you do find out, align your intent with that impact. If you are passionate about the business you are in, then you must act as if you love it. If not, then what are you passionate about?

Begin to ask yourself these questions as often as possible. As you do this, you will begin to experience a shift in your ability to make decisions that impact you and those around you. You will also begin to see life through the lens of a new intention. What a wonderful experience this will be!

How would life be different for you and for those you care about? How is your intent aligned with your impact? As you consider this, you will also begin to understand more clearly why your business is the way it is.
