Define Success - Why You Shouldn't Buy Anything Based on Hope or Fantasy

in #life4 years ago

Successful people have one thing in common, they are successful. They go about their lives with a sense of purpose and accomplishment. When they walk down the street, they know they are on the right path. I think this comes from our common sense imprinted into us at a very young age. When we are growing up, many of us are brought up to believe that success means a lot of different things. To succeed in school or a particular endeavor means a certain level of grades or a specific number of graduates.

In the United States, however, most of us are familiar with the term "success". The dictionary definition is "the successful attainment of an objective or goal". We are also familiar with the other popular definitions, which include: being marked or awarded a favorable result; achieving something very worth having; taking advantage of an opportunity; making an intelligent decision; and simply meaning "having a life".

The word "successful" has several different meanings. Most people would probably agree that the word describes an action that has resulted in an achievement. However, the definition does not stop there. Some would define successful people as those who have achieved great success in a given field. The rate definition of successful is indeed that single word, "successful".

A successful person has achieved most, if not all of their goals. So why do so many people take time to celebrate when it comes to success? Well, I think the answer lies in the concept of accomplishment. Many people would agree that success means reaching a particular goal or dealing with a certain situation.

Therefore, it can be said that successful people take time to celebrate their accomplishments because their success is measured by how much money they have made. It's really true. So instead of saying, "Great job! ", I would say," Wow you just made a lot of money! ".

Let's look at an example of a successful completion of a project. Let's say that Frank was tasked to build the cheapest and easiest to operate the airplane in history. Frank didn't complete this task because he failed several times before getting it right. Instead, he took time to celebrate his accomplishment by receiving a certificate of accomplishment for building the first lady's personal plane.

In the New York Times article written by David Brooks, Frank seemed to indicate that building the plane was not only a matter of pride, but also that it was an example of his ability to think creatively. Brooks correctly stated, "For a lot of people, the sense of achievement is tied to being able to accomplish things. For Frank, it was the sense of pride that brought him to success."

I believe that defining success is much more complex than what Brooks suggested because it takes into account all of the aspects of a person's life that contributes to their ability to be successful. Frank's story is one of many that we can learn from in determining what makes us successful in our lives. There are many successful people in the world, but it does take an incredible amount of creativity, determination, hard work, and perseverance. Bill Gates was inspiring to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams when he saw his first successful computer. He also had the drive to seek out and hire the best software developers in order to turn those dreams into reality. I feel that if any of us can do it, we can become successful!

When I look back at my own personal journey, I feel that defining success for me is a process that has included some big wins and some smaller victories along the way. It certainly helped that I had the support of family and close friends during my journey. However, even with all of those achievements and support, I still needed to define success for myself. For example, many of my closest career friends and colleagues have told me that I should not compare my current job with the ones I held in the past. While this may seem like an obvious example, I still felt like I was missing something.

When you're an entrepreneur, you know that the future is always uncertain. You never really know what's going to happen, and many times your predictions come true. Sometimes, however, you will make terrible mistakes that will cost you everything you've worked hard for. If you are constantly making these type of mistakes, I feel that it's important to never buy anything based on hope or fantasy, but to instead always do what is necessary to get yourself out of that situation.

By doing this, I feel that I have been able to redefine success for myself, and this has allowed me to finally buy whatever it is that I wanted. Many times, after being denied the things that I really want, I look for reasons not to do what I am passionate about. However, if you don't really define success for yourself, then you will always be looking for that reason not to do what you love. In the end, this can really cause you a lot of mental pain and anxiety.
