Al Nofara cafe, which translates to (Fountain cafe) is the oldest cafe in Damascus, it was established 256 years ago.
Located at the eastern gate of the Omayyad mosque, at the entrance of Al Qaymaria, Old Damascus.
The cafe serves traditional drinks and hookah in different flavors.
Every Thursday at night, (Abo Shadi) a story teller wearing his crimson fez and traditional robe, starts telling stories taking you back in time while depicting the scenes of the story with fancy words and lavish details.
The storyteller is called Hakawati and currently Abo Shadi is the only preforming storyteller in Damascus.
Al Nofara cafe is must-visit for everyone visiting Syria.
