Question:
In the hadith it is stated, "Fast you to see the moon and day to day when you see the moon." Does the word 'seeing' here be interpreted as seeing scientifically, not seeing with the eyes of the head, to unite the beginning of the month of Ramadan?

Answer:
The theme of the early unification of Ramadan which leads to the unification of the feast throughout Islamic lands is the theme discussed by Fiqh scholars in the first centuries, also discussed by scholars in Majma 'al-Buhuts al-Islamiyyah (Islamic Research Institute) on several last year. All agree that there is no contradiction between Islam and science, Islam itself calls for science. In our case, the hadith associates fasting and feast by seeing Hilal, if not seen with the eyes of the head, then we use science. The guidance of perfecting the number of days of Sha'ban month to thirty days is a direction to honor Hisab which is one form of science. Those who watched Hilal use binoculars that are thegght

Bh equipment of science, also use Hilal's surveillance equipment and other equipment. This theme requires a long discussion, discussion of science and religion, discussed in the second juz of Bayan li an-Nas min al-Azhar asy-Syarif (Explanation for Humanity From Al-Azhar His Majesty). Here I mention that the Third Islamic Research Conference, held in 1966M, stipulates as follows:
