in Newcomers' Community5 years ago

Greetings to everyone on steemit community. It is my great privilege to share with you my achievement 2, which focus on basic security in steemit.
Security according to Oxford dictionary is define as the state of felling safe, stable and free from fear and anxiety. When you register steemit accounts, a single master key will be given to you of which you will used to login into your accounts, and that key must be keep in safe and secure. Below are little education on how to safeguard your steemit account and be free from hackers.

How can I keep my steem acoount secure?
To be able to keep your steem accounts safe, copy and save your master key somewhere and dont disclose it to anyone.

Steemit have basic keys used to secure each accounts. Each of them have their uses and when to use them.

  1. Posting key: This key is the most used key and are always used when posting, voting, editing, creating and also commenting on steemit blog
  2. Active key: They are used in monitoring purposes, any source of transaction, voting for a witness, transfers of steem, powering up and down, updating and editing profile details.
  3. Memo key: It is used to decrypt and encrypt private transfer memos.
  4. Private owner key or master key: It is the most powerful key among all the other keys. It is used to reset all the other keys if the account is compromised.

Moreover, save your master key somewhere and keep it save.
It is advisable not to share any of your password or key in any of the third party's platform.

What do I do if I lost my keys/password
In fact, if any of the keys apart from the master key is lost, you can recover it with the use of the master key but if the master key is lost, nothing you can do to recover the accounts, that's why the master key is to be kept safe and save somewhere.

The difference between master key and owner key.
Is the name implies, master key is the universal key to all the other key. It is the master key which is used to generate the owner key. The master key is the first key given when the accounts is created. The master key is used to generate all the other keys.
