"Walking on the lake": in the open
Продолжим пешую прогулку по льду озера. Однажды мы уже ступили на этот лёд. Цель этого похода - достичь противоположного берега. Это примерно дорога в 3 км (но это не точно, открытые пространства скрадывают дистанцию).
Начало прогулки было солнечным и весёлым. После долгого циклона, который принёс оттепель, снег и дождь, такая прогулка была особо радостной. Хотелось дышать полной грудью и много двигаться.
We will continue walking on the ice of the lake. We have already set foot on this ice once. The goal of this hike is to reach the opposite shore. This is about a 3 km road (but this is not accurate, open spaces hide the distance).
The beginning of the walk was sunny and cheerful. After a long cyclone that brought thaw, snow and rain, such a walk was especially joyful. I wanted to breathe deeply and move a lot.
Я пошёл поперёк озера. Можно было идти вдоль него, но тогда бы мой путь составил более 10 км в одну сторону. Когда-нибудь я сделаю это... но не сейчас.
I walked across the lake. It was possible to walk along it, but then my path would be more than 10 km in one direction. Someday I'll do it... but not now.
У меня было с собой две камеры, чтобы не менять объективы на морозе. Другая проблема, это падение ёмкости аккумуляторов. Два запасных лежали у меня в тёплом кармане. Мне приходилось менять аккумуляторы периодически, отогревая те, что успевали замерзать.
Если у вас нет тёплого кармана, то можно держать запасные аккумуляторы внутри перчаток и греть их руками.
I had two cameras with me so as not to change the lenses in the cold. Another problem is the drop in battery capacity. I had two spare ones in my warm pocket. I had to change the batteries periodically, warming up those that had time to freeze.
If you don't have a warm pocket, then you can keep spare batteries inside the gloves and warm them with your hands.
Постепенно я удалялся от своего берега и выходил на простор. Это непередаваемое ощущение. Под моими ногами было 10 метров воды (глубина озера). Я бывал здесь летом на лодке, а сейчас просто иду по поверхности озера...
К тому же снега практически не было и идти было очень легко. Сейчас я уже жалею, что не вышел утром и не пошёл вдоль озера. Это редкие условия для такого пешего похода. Обычно здесь бывают снежные сугробы.
Gradually I was moving away from my shore and out into the open. It's an indescribable feeling. There was 10 meters of water under my feet (the depth of the lake). I've been here in the summer by boat, and now I'm just walking on the surface of the lake...
Besides, there was practically no snow and it was very easy to walk. Now I'm already regretting that I didn't go out in the morning and walk along the lake. These are rare conditions for such a hike. Usually there are snow drifts here.

Do you have any idea how thick the ice layer is?
I remember when my children were small, maybe 20 or 22 years ago, one of our favourite lakes was so thickly frozen that the residents of the two villages opposite drove their cars over it...
Hopefully there will be enough cold winters so that you can do the whole hike!

Ich kann mich erinnern: als meine Kinder klein waren, vielleicht vor 20 oder 22 Jahren, war einer unserer Lieblingsseen so dick zugefroren, daß die Anwohner der beiden gegenüber anliegenden Dörfer mit ihren Autos drüber und hinüber gefahren sind...
Hoffentlich gibt es noch genug kalte Winter, so daß Du die komplette Wanderung absolvieren kannst!
