Viking Playground in the Woods!
Hey Steemit!
Hello from (once Denmark) Northern Germany!
We live smack dab in the middle of Viking country and many reminders of the Viking people are still present in modern living. It seems the Vikings are once again invading and conquering back these lands and growing ever more popular with the local people. For me, it's a really fun and exciting place to live. Viking history is very interesting to me. These were my ancestors and it's important to honor them and learn about how they lived.
How do you like my Robert E. Lee pose on the horse??? Except his was white and for some weird reason I just remembered his horses name was Traveler. Anyways, the kids and I really loved this hand-carved horse they just put in the park, its a really charming addition and I hope it lasts a long time.
This park is located outside of the city of Flensburg and they recently added this shelter as well as replaced the main jungle gym which gives it a much more traditional Viking feel, although I am not sure that is what they were trying to achieve (maybe just wishful thinking).
Here is the new jungle gym. We were a little bummed because now it is impossible for little kids to climb up and go down the slide, but maybe they wanted it to be like that.
Here is a really interesting natural looking swing set. I love how they built it out of solid oak branches. We were lucky today because there was virtually no one else in the park except us. This was a nice break from the normally overcrowded areas you typically find in Europe.
This is a heavy duty shelter someone constructed right inside the playground. It's sturdy and even has a bed of straw inside. You could sleep comfortably in there, no problem (as long as it doesn't rain )! I'd say there was room enough for two adults to sleep inside.
There is also a few of these really cool ”forts” for the kids to play in. Growing up in the 90s in Wisconsin I never had a cool wooden playground like this to play on. It's a great place for the kids to play that's for sure!
After the kids get their fill of fun in the playground we always hit one of the many trails in the surrounding woods and go for a nice hike to distress from the week. The weather was pleasant today and there was even a little sun so it was definitely worth the trip out there!
Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!
It looks very nice to be in contact with nature, and the best they had the park for you alone, so you enjoy it more. Have a great day!
Thank you very much!

Howdy sir badger! That looks like a wonderful park! It looks like they're going for a more natural, rustic look. The horse is very cool too, I hope it doesn't get broken or stolen or something, the pose was classic! lol. I can't believe you remembered the name of Robert E Lee's horse! lol...that's amazing.
Hahaha thanks @janton! I remembered from the book the killer angels. It's a classic

wow now I feel illiterate badger! I haven't heard of that book. It's about the Generals of the South specifically? I'll have to look that up.
It's what the movie Gettysburg is based on. Which coincidentally is my favorite move of all time!
