I completely agree that most of the schools are just a mere timepass and adds no value to the children. Though I still feel that school is important for a children's growth, in my opinion school education is useless. Honestly school education has added very less value in my career. I would say, everything that I learnt in my life were from experiences and not through text books. I don't really know how many people in India feel the same thing.

Education System

The school education system in India is very poor. The subjects that we study in our school doesn't really teach anything practical. The history that is being thought is also not very deep or realistic. Kids are just being given a very short useless overview of various topics but it is not adding any big value to their life. The education system in India needs lots of fine tuning. Value based education system is available only in few schools in India. Other schools are just focusing more on marks and no value is added to the life of the kids.

Another major problem with the education system is that, we don't have it updated at all. Today many international schools are updating the education system every year based on the recent trends. But there are still so many schools teaching things that are really useless to the kids.

School infrastructure and atmosphere

When I studied in my school I used to have my school fully surrounded by lots of trees and play zones. Today schools are getting very big concrete structures and the playground area is gradually reducing. New infrastructure development is good for the school but at the same time students will need lots of natural places where they can create memories. One a student leaves the school, they will not remember what they studied in the school but instead they will remember their school atmosphere and the memories they take away from the school.

Trust me, I really don't remember what I studied in my 7th grade or 8th grade. All I remember is what games I used to play during the Playing Time. Where and all we used to roam in the school campus during the break time. These are some real memories that can stay in your heart forever. Not the content from the books. The fact here is that infrastructure of the schools are really getting very poor. Especially the government schools are really bad and they don't even have a proper toilet facility for the students. Considering the way it is changing, I would say schools are useless for the children.

Alternative for schools

I have mentioned so many points about that schools are useless for children. You might wonder what else we will be able to do to provide good education and good values for the kids. If you are someone looking forward to just get a 10th grade and 12th grade certificate for your kids, then there are options available in India. There is something called Open schooling where kids can stay at home and learn the subjects and write exams. There will not be any necessity to go to school. Today schools have been charging a lot. Education is getting costly in India whereas many countries in the world are offering health and education for free to their citizens.

In the olden days there used to be a system where father will teach their kids all the necessary things they need to know in their life. If it is a boy child, it will be completely trained by father and if it is a girl child the child will be completely trained by mother. Only for special educations people send their kids to others. This used to be the situation before the introduction of schools in India. This was very successful until a point where one caste was particularly not allowed to get their basic education. I'm planning to send my kids to school only for the fun part of it. Otherwise for education, I'm going to help them gain the knowledge they will need.
