COVID - Travel ban shouldn't be lifted anytime soon

In most of countries there is a travel ban strictly followed. Most of the countries have prevented people from getting inside their country from other countries and at the same time they also don't encourage people to travel to other countries from their countries. I guess this is going to be the case for a few more months from now. There are some countries allowing people to travel only in a strict emergency need. It also requires special permissions from higher authorities and a justification to prove that the travel is absolutely necessary.

We have to understand the need for this absolute travel ban. In my opinion, I feel that this is absolutely necessary because most of the spreading happened only when people traveled from one place to another. There was no big awareness of using face masks and other precautions during the early days of COVID. One good reason was that people were not aware of how dangerous it was. Only when it started spreading everywhere the seriousness was realized and recommendations about personal safety were spread as awareness among the people.

IT companies imposing a travel ban

Most of the IT companies have introduced travel bans preventing people from traveling to any place even if it is within the same country. I have seen this travel ban in my company and have also heard it from my friends that they also have a similar travel ban in their companies as well. I feel that this travel ban should be there at least for another 6 to 8 months for the safety of people. Like I mentioned in the previous paragraphs, people who travel are the ones who are most likely to get this virus for themselves and spread this to others.

Travel bans can help in reducing the spreading. For some business requirements, it can be highly challenging to work virutually without a face to face meeting. But considering the safety of the employees, it is very important to make sure this ban is followed effectively. Though there are methods to check and monitor people who are traveling from one country to another country, we cannot say that it can be efficient and it can protect someone from becoming a victim.

Avoiding travels

I see most of the people saying that they are fed up with the lockdown situation right now and the first thing they would do after the lockdown is to travel somewhere and enjoy the beauty of that place. I agree that it is obvious for someone to think like that. I also feel the same and I might as well travel to someplace after all this settles down. But even in that case, it would be wise to take a decision to not travel to places that has a high number of victims. A holiday vacation spot can be a safe place but the traveling medium matters a lot.

If we travel through train or other public transportation, there is a high possibility that we might become a victim. The reason is that we may not know if someone is carrying the virus with them or not. Even if you are traveling to places nearby or to places inside your city itself after the lockdown is over, taking own transportation is preferable. The chances of getting the infection can be lesser if we go for our own transportation instead of public transportation.
