Water Quality Characteristics: pH Determination using pH Meter
pH Determination using pH Meter
Materials and Equipment:
• pH meter
• Beaker (250ml)
• Stirring bar
• Magnetic stirrer
• Distilled water
Procedure:
- Calibrate the pH meter according to instructions supplied by the Lab staff.
- Pour sample into a clean beaker.
- Rinse the probe thoroughly with distilled water to prevent any carry-over. Switch to pH mode.
- Immerse the probe in the sample.
- Establish equilibrium between probe and sample by stirring to insure homogeneity. Gently drop a stirring bar into the sample and place the beaker on a magnetic stirrer. Start the magnetic stirrer and adjust the speed to give thorough but gentle mixing.
- Read and record the pH.
- Rinse the electrode thoroughly with distilled water.
- When not in use, the electrode should be replaced in the beaker containing water.

Thank you for the procedure @badet. 😊😇
hahahaha wala nakoy ma post doooo
Good post.
But if you don't calibrate your pH meter properly then there is probability getting wrong pH. So calibration procedure is another imortant part.
By the by I don't which pH meter you are using but you must use that one which provide more accurate result with a logical background.
yes, it surely is an important thing to do before doing lab :)
