The result of Barangay Ginebra's defensive plan was their 92-84 revenge against Meralco in Game Three of the 2019 PBA Governor's Cup Finals last night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Gin Kings quickly rose from their previous 102-104 defeat to the Bolts to take a 2-1 lead into their best-of-seven championship series.

“Actually, it's a collective team effort really. I give credit to my teammates because they all step up on defense and offense, ”said Japeth Aguilar, who had 23 points, 7 blocks, and 5 rebounds.

Ginebra took a 19-7 lead into 5:55 minutes of the first period when Meralco center Raymond Almazan suffered a left knee injury and was unable to return to play.

The Bolts hit a 42-40 lead into halftime behind Chris Newsome's 20-point lead before the Gin Kings trailed by a 15-2 lead to list a 12-point lead, 57-45, in the first four minutes of the third quarter.

Ginebra further outscored Meralco at 78-55 from 7-foot-1 Greg Slaughter's one-hander in the final 22 seconds of the period.

The Bolts, bowing to the Gin Kings in Game One, 87-91, made it to Mates, trailing 82-87 from Newsome and Durham in the final 2:04 minutes of the final canto.

But LA Tenorio and Aguilar were there to put Ginebra up 92-84 with 31 seconds left.
