Monster Energy Supercross Round 4 Glendale - 450 run down

in #motocross7 years ago

So the 450 class this year has pretty much kept every single fan guessing as to what is going to happen next. What with multiple championship contenders out with injuries and then the first of the Triple Crown events, yeah things have been shaken up pretty well and it's great to see so many riders in the mix. It seems the guessing games continue in the series but lets check out a few of the stand out riders from the weekends event.

Ken Roczen

So it was no surprise to anyone really when Roczen had a shocker at Round 3. No matter how hardcore a person or mentally strong you are there is no way you can ride that race, a year on from a crash that almost claimed your arm and be ok with it. This weekend however he was not only back to the front but he was very much the old Kenny! The Honda HRC rider was certainly back to his best grabbing a third place and easily had the pace to win, this is very encouraging in my eyes and we have a lot more to see from Kenny this season i believe. I have no doubt that we will see Roczen grab an overall win very soon!

Ken Roczen

Factory Honda HRC

"I have the speed and fitness, but I just need to put myself up front in the beginning. I was in sixth off the start, made some passes, and got myself into third. I rode some solid laps and was inching up on Justin, but unfortunately we ran out of time."

Ken is currently third in the overall season standings and only twelve points down from the top!

Marvin Musquin

So, it seems that shoulder injury has taken a much harsher toll than we first thought when we look at the Frenchmans season so far. He was simply amazing in the season opening round and his off season was one of the most 'winningest' in recent history! Then a spill in round two saw him out for the event and he hasn't really returned as we knew him before.

Marvin Musquin

Factory Red Bull KTM

"Given the last few weeks and all the rehab work I have put in to strengthen my shoulder, I am happy with fifth place tonight. I was able to get a reasonable start around eighth and just tried to put in solid laps until the end. I am happy to make good gains this week and I look forward to building from here."

There were some rumours going about that he might be forced off the bike to have surgery which would have ended his season right there. Luckily though it seems this is not the case if we listen to his statement above. I certainly hope so as i think the season would be much the worse without the KTM rider in it. Lets hope he returns fully for this weekends race.

Cooper Webb

This season certainly has not gone off with a bang for Webb, some would say he has massively under-performed since moving up to the premier class. I kind feel for the guy as he has been very injury prone since moving up and he certainly has the speed... just needs to start laying it down better and building some consitancy. Things are certainly compounded by the fact that his team mate and stand in rider Justin Barcia is killing it at the moment. Proof to show it's not the bike but the rider that needs to set his sights a little higher.
