2018 Supercross Changes announced, whats changed?
So the changes to the 2018 Suerpcross season have been announced, and there are quite a few changes! The press conference held at Raymond James Stadium has certainly shaken up the upcoming season a bit!
Lets go through whats happened.
2018 Championship points

Supercross East/West Showdown
Indianapolis and Las Vegas will host East/West Showdown.
Qualifying
250Ssx East/West qualifying, the top 20 riders from qualifying advance to the heat races.
250sx East/West Heat races
The top 9 riders move to main event, each heat is 6 min plus 1 lap
250sx East/West LCQ
22 riders, 1-4 move to main.
250sx East/West Main Event
22 riders, 15 min plus 1 lap.
Triple Crown
Anaheim 2, Minneapolis and Atlanta will now make up the All new Triple Crown.
Just like the Monster Energy Cup, 250sx and 450sx will race three main events each!
All new qualifying format
No more Semis! The semi races have been removed in favour of having more riders qualify in the heat races and LCQ.
250sx & 450sx Heat races
There will be two 20 rider heat races.
Each of the heat races will be 6 mins plus 1 lap.
Positions 1-9 will transfer to the main and 10-20 go to LCQ.
250sx AND 450sx LCQS
The LCQ will now feature 22 riders with only the top four advancing to the main.
5 min plus 1 lap.
Amateur Races
There will be 4 Amateur races in the 2018 season at Anaheim 2, Glendale, Tampa, and Atlanta.
The dates are as follows:
- Anaheim 2 - January 21, 2018
- Glendale - January 28, 2018
- Tampa - February 25, 2018
- Atlanta - March 4, 2018
