Secularism by the standard of reasoning.

Reading the history of secularism, one should not assume that this doctrine was not prevalent in the world at any time before the fifteenth century. In fact, the struggle of secularism with the whole religion is eternal. Whenever the Prophets and Messengers raised their voices for the purpose of establishing a complete way of life from Allah in human society, there was strong opposition from the ruling class on various pretexts.

Nimrod in the time of Abraham (peace be upon him) and Pharaoh in the time of Moses (peace be upon him) strongly opposed the full religion. But they acknowledged God as their Creator. They have never denied religion. Azra, the father of Abraham (peace be upon him), was the king priest of Nimrod.

In modern terms, they also have to be called secularists. Abu Lahab and Abu Jahl were secularists in the time of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
