WATER BAPTISM
Water baptism is one of two ordinance Jesus left for the church to practice. An ordinance is a rule made by authority, a decree.
It is not optional, is a must that every child of God must be baptized in water. It has been commanded by Jesus and we do it as an act of obedience to the lord's command (Matthew 28:18-20). Before being baptized, as a child you must be old enough to understand the gospel of Christ.
As many as accepted Jesus Christ as their saviour has the duty to be baptized in water.
Any child ready for baptism must have repented of his sin and placed his faith and trust in Jesus Christ as saviour and Lord.
POINT OF VIEW
Do you know it is not everyone who come to church that is saved and baptized? Many people come to church just like Ethiopian man. They have desire to know God and want to please him and they come to church because that's the place they hope to learn more about him. The Ethiopian man's life was changed forever because he believed in the Lord Jesus and was baptized immediately. So, water is not a meaningless practice over even a mere duty, it is an awesome privilege for you as a child of God.
CONCLUSION
Water baptism is a commandment from God.
God wants every saved child to be baptized.
