THE AUTHORITY OF BELIEVERS
Power, specifically the one given by the Almighty God is sweet but there is something more wonderful than power and that is authority. When the Lord gives you authority, you suddenly become a little god in your own right. The Almighty God gave Moses authority to go to Egypt and deliver the Israelites out of slavery of the Egyptians and Moses became a god to Pharaoh and the army of Egypt.
When we surrender our lives to the Lord Jesus through faith, we suddenly become children of God by grace due to the power He gives power to as many as receive and believes in His name. When we start to do the will of the Lord, following Him intimately, He gives us authority beyond measure.
This is when we go to a higher position over and above all principalities and powers of the enemy. The sad thing about a lot of Christian in this present day is that they tend to be satisfied with the power to become children of God but never concerned to have spiritual authority like the Christian of old.
Several present-day believers operate below the level of the Old covenant prophets who weren't opportune to have the type of relationship we enjoy with the Holy Spirit. For instance, Prophet Elijah called down fire on those soldiers who came to arrest him. How many present-day believers can call down fire from Heaven?
While we must preach the gospel of peace, we are also to show forth the praises of our Lord Jesus Christ as His children. To have that kind of authority that will put Satan and his demons under our control, we must first submit ourselves to the Lord Jesus. It is Jesus Christ who has all authority and power.
